A Parallel Universe --"Is It Revealed at the Quantum Level?"

Could the strange behavior of quantum particles indicate the existence of other parallel universes? It started about five years ago with a practical chemistry question asked by Bill Poirier, a professor of chemistry at Texas Tech University,  Little did Bill Poirier realize as he delved into the quantum mechanics of complex molecules that he would fall down the rabbit hole to discover evidence of other parallel worlds that might well be poking through into our own, showing up at the quantum level.

The Texas Tech University professor of chemistry and biochemistry said that quantum mechanics is a strange realm of reality. Particles at this atomic and subatomic level can appear to be in two places at once. Because the activity of these particles is so iffy, scientists can only describe what’s happening mathematically by “drawing” the tiny landscape as a wave of probability.

Chemists like Poirier draw these landscapes to better understand chemical reactions. Despite the “uncertainty” of particle location, quantum wave mechanics allows scientists to make precise predictions. The rules for doing so are well established. At least, they were until Poirier’s recent “eureka” moment when he found a completely new way to draw quantum landscapes. Instead of waves, his medium became parallel universes.

Though his theory, called Many Interacting Worlds, sounds like science fiction, it holds up mathematically.

Originally published in 2010, it has led to a number of invited presentations, peer-reviewed journal articles and a recent invited commentary in the premier physics journal Physical Review.

“This has gotten a lot of attention in the foundational mechanics community as well as the popular press,” Poirier said. “At a symposium in Vienna in 2013, standing five feet away from a famous Nobel Laureate in physics, I gave my presentation on this work fully expecting criticism. I was surprised when I received none. Also, I was happy to see that I didn’t have anything obviously wrong with my mathematics.”

In his theory, Poirier postulates that small particles from many worlds seep through to interact with our own, and their interaction accounts for the strange phenomena of quantum mechanics. Such phenomena include particles that seem to be in more than one place at a time, or to communicate with each other over great distances without explanations.

There is no fuzziness in his theory. Particles do occupy well-defined positions in any given world. However, these positions vary from world to world, explaining why they appear to be in several places at once. Likewise, quantum communication of faraway particles – something Albert Einstein called “spooky action at a distance” – is actually due to interaction of nearby worlds.

Many Interacting Worlds theory doesn’t prove that the quantum wave does not exist, or that many worlds do exist, Poirier said. The standard wave theory is perfectly fine in most respects, providing agreement with experiment, for example.

“Our theory, though based on different mathematics, makes exactly the same experimental predictions,” he said.

“So what we have done is to open the possibility that the quantum wave may not exist. It now has only as much right to that claim as do many interacting worlds – no more and no less. This may be as definitive a statement as one can hope to make about a subject that has confounded the best minds of physics for a hundred years and still continues to generate controversy.”

At this nanoscopic scale, particles don’t act like larger objects, whose position over time is well defined, such as an airplane or an apple falling from a tree.

Instead, particles sometimes behave as fixed particles, and other times behave more like waves. Even weirder than this: when scientists look at a quantum particle, it behaves like a particle. When they’re not looking, it suddenly starts acting like a wave.

Even Albert Einstein is said to have disagreed with the quantum idea that particles could exist in an approximate possible location or possibly more than one location at a time rather than just one place.
“I like to think the moon is there, even if I am not looking at it,” Einstein famously said on the topic.
Scientists dissect and disagree to this day as to exactly what’s happening on this tiny scale. Although they may not know for sure what’s happening, they do at least know how to predict the wave-like behavior of the quantum particle when it’s not being observed.

For this, they use the Schrödinger Equation, a mathematical description invented in the ’20s that describes how these crazy particles move as a wave over time. At least, they did until Poirier took another look at the wave and upended established quantum theory. Some physicists can make much about the philosophy of quantum mechanics, Poirier said. For a chemist such as himself, however, he is less interested in the philosophy and more interested in solving Schrödinger’s quantum wave equation to help him understand chemical reactions.

“In physical chemistry, we are interested in solving problems involving large, complex molecules as accurately as we can,” he said. “We’re looking for the reaction rate for a chemical reaction, the allowed quantum states of a molecule and the spectral ‘fingerprint’ that a molecule emits or absorbs when we shine a light on it. … There is a paradox here. To answer these kinds of questions accurately requires quantum mechanics, but solving quantum mechanics problems for large systems (more than three bodies) is extraordinarily difficult.”

Chemists use traditional grid-based methods for solving the quantum wave equation. However, the more complex the molecule, the more complex the computations become. With each atom added to the molecule, about 10,000 times more additional computational effort is needed, he said.

To ease the computational burden, chemists borrowed an idea from engineers to allow the grid points to move like a liquid and “flow” with the quantum wave. Once moving, the grid points trace out trajectories, much like a baseball. While engineers use the technique to model fluid flow, chemists use it to help calculate the motion of the quantum wave –hence the term ‘quantum hydrodynamics.’
At a certain point, Poirier wondered what would happen if you left the wave computations out and just worked with the quantum trajectories and if the simpler numerical simulation still would be valid.
“My key insight was to realize that all you really need are the moving quantum trajectories themselves,” he said.

“The quantum wave is not actually needed to tell your trajectories how to move. The trajectories tell themselves how to move. Moreover, you don't need the wave for anything else either. Any scientific question that might be answered by knowing the motion of the wave can also be answered just as easily by knowing the motion of the trajectories alone. So the wave becomes completely extraneous and can be discarded altogether.”

The concept of many quantum worlds isn’t quite new. In the ’50s, a graduate student at Princeton University named Hugh Everett III had a similar explanation to account for the strangeness of quantum mechanics. Poirier said Everett Many Worlds theory is based on the standard quantum wave mathematics, so it is not clear where the worlds actually come from or how they’re defined. Critics disagree with the theory for this reason and because the universes fork into countless more each time scientists, say, take a measurement.

In Poirier’s Many Interacting Worlds approach, these worlds are built into the mathematics right from the start, so scientists don’t have to do anything special to define them. It works, he said, because wave-based mathematics aren’t used. Worlds never fork or merge the way Everett’s worlds do, and Poirier’s worlds interact with each other. Everett’s do not.

“The Many Interacting Worlds theory works more like a flock of birds than an infinitely branching tree,” he said.

Poirier compared figuring out quantum mechanics without the wave function to putting up scaffolding, building a structure inside and then realizing you just needed the scaffolding. From a practical point of view, fewer mathematical moving parts mean greater simplicity.

It also posed interesting questions about the physics philosophy on the wave and what it means if you don’t need it, he said. Quantum trajectories may be more than just a computational tool. They actually may explain what is going on at the quantum level.

A and B are two "entangled" quantum particles. A measurement of particle A correlates instantly with a measurement of faraway particle B, which seems to violate relativity. (How can A get a signal to B faster than the speed of light?) MIW describes this as follows. The two black discs represent particles A and B in our world. There is also a neighboring world in which A and B also exist, but at slightly displaced positions (the open, dashed circles). The two interact because they are close to each other, even though the two are far apart.

The two worlds interact because they are close to each other, even though the two particles are far apart.

“People have argued for a long time about what the wave function means philosophically and how it should be interpreted,” he said. “Now we suddenly realized that this may be entirely the wrong way to frame the argument. The more fundamental question should be, ‘Does the wave function even exist, and if not, what takes its place?’

At present, we cannot say definitively that the wave function does not exist. Only that its existence is not necessary, because we’ve found another mathematical method that provides all the same information. So, what does this new mathematics have to say about what takes the place of the wave function? What emerges from the math are parallel universes.”

Poirier explained that in the classical physical world where humans operate, everything is in a definite state with respect to velocity and position. Think airplanes and apples falling out of trees. We can calculate where those things are and where they’re going.

In quantum mechanics, scientists have to give that up. They can know where particles are or where they’re going. Not both. The classical trajectory, with its well-defined particle attributes, has been replaced with the quantum probability wave that spreads out across many simultaneous possibilities.
However, by describing quantum realities using quantum trajectories alone, at least some of the old classical notions can be restored, Poirier said. According to this picture, quantum particles really do have well-defined attributes and follow definite quantum trajectories.

The catch is that one has to have many interacting worlds. In fact, quantum behavior itself may be regarded as evidence of definite particles from alternate universes poking through into our own, causing this blurry picture at the quantum scale.

“That's the most radical and interesting part of this approach,” he said. “Assuming that reality is now described by many trajectories instead of a wave, we have to ask what these trajectories really mean, physically. The only sensible interpretation is to think of each trajectory as representing a different world. In each world, nothing is wave-like or indefinite. Everything is sharp and well-defined. But there are now multiple worlds. The variation across these worlds is where quantum uncertainty or ‘fuzziness,’ together with all other quantum behavior, actually comes from.”

The apparent fuzziness of particle positions may be regarded as a manifestation of an inter-world interaction. Poirier says that while the wave equation still works, scientists can no longer say that it more naturally explains what’s going on at the quantum scale than the idea of many alternate universes interacting together at the quantum scale.

Both are equally valid ways of interpreting reality that are consistent with current experiments.
As for describing what might be happening right now in other parallel universes, Poirier said that would be pure speculation.

“We don’t have proof that an alternate me or you might be president,” he said. “I can’t say whether those worlds exist or not. According to the theory, the only worlds we can directly interact with are so close to our own world that we hardly can tell them apart, except at the quantum scale. So that might be a little bit boring for people who like to think in terms of science fiction. On the other hand, that doesn’t rule out the possibility that there are indeed more distant worlds macroscopically different from our own where you and I are living out any number of counterfactual existences. We don’t have any direct evidence for that. But then again, nor should we, according to the theory, even if such worlds do exist.”

Aliens Are Real & They Will Look Like Humans – Claims Cambridge University Scientist

Evolutionary biologist Simon Conway Morris has shared his belief that aliens are real and that they look just like us, noting how interesting it is that we have yet to find or come in contact with human-like beings, given the number of Earth-like planets we have discovered so far.

Professor Conway Morris is best known for his study on the Cambrian explosion, which saw a sudden evolutionary burst of complex animal life occur around 542 million years ago. Morris, a man of both religion and science, has also been challenging popular scientific theories with an open mind for quite some time. He feels that many theories, when pulled together, can help explain how we all got here, but on their own paint only an incomplete picture.[1]

Given his history, it’s not much of a surprise that Morris also delves into the ET realm. He feels that because many of the planets we have discovered are similar to our own, harbouring the distinct possibility for life, it is likely life has already emerged.

Morris has stated: “I would argue that in any habitable zone that doesn’t boil or freeze, intelligent life is going to emerge, because intelligence is convergent.”

“One can say with reasonable confidence that the likelihood of something analogous to a human evolving is really pretty high.”

“And given the number of potential planets that we now have good reason to think exist, even if the dice only come up the right way every one in 100 throws, that still leads to a very large number of intelligences scattered around, that are likely to be similar to us.”

Professor Conway Morris continues to say: “Fermi’s paradox seems to be coming rather sharply into focus. If I’m on the right track then the likelihood of intelligence is evolving and actively engaging in some sort of transgalatic expeditions doesn’t seem to be completely beyond the realm of possibility.”
“What Fermi didn’t know when he asked that famous question was that the number of Earth-like planets is absolutely gigantic now. More problematic is that many of these solar systems far, far pre-date our solar system. They would have, in principle, a major head start of hundreds of millions, if not billions, of years.”

“The problem is exceedingly acute: we shouldn’t be alone but, famous last words, all the evidence suggests we are. Maybe [aliens] are hiding, the Arthur C Clarke idea, or as Stephen Baxter mischievously suggested we live in a virtual world. I don’t honestly know. My suspicion is we have only begun to scratch at the surface of reality, for want of a better word.”

But are they hiding? It almost seems like there’s been so much evidence of “someone else” that the statement “maybe they’re hiding” seems misplaced.

Valid Theories?

Are his theories something to be taken seriously or is he off in left field? Given the amount of research that has gone into this subject over the years, enough evidence, case studies, and experiences have been documented to suggest it’s not at all unreasonable to believe that aliens not only exist, but that they could be among us already. Even Harvard professor John Mack states when it comes to alien abductions: “Yes, it’s both. It’s both literally, physically happening to a degree; and it’s also some kind of psychological, spiritual experience occurring and originating perhaps in another dimension.”

Even popular scientists Neil deGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye believe aliens and ETs exist and are intelligent.

Canada’s former defense minister Paul Hellyer not only believes ETs exist, but states that “at least 4 known alien species have been visiting earth for thousands of years.” In an interview we did with Hellyer at Toronto City Hall I asked him outright about the existence of different species, and he told me that at some levels of military and government it’s such a known fact that it’s not even surprising to them anymore.

Exciting Time For Disclosure

In the end this topic is so widely discussed now that it’s only a matter of time before big answers will come. Some believe the answers are already there while others are waiting for more tangible proof, and they are of course entitled to wait. I do believe though that instead of being rash, angry, or condescending about the probability of alien life, we could be more curious, excited, and open. It’s a very real and practical possibility, and the days of thinking it’s crazy talk should be long gone.

NASA Openly Admits Alien Life Exists: Get Ready for Disclosure

by Christina Sarich

Most people ‘in the know’ realize that NASA is just part of the military industrial complex, but a recent open admission on mainstream news that “there are indications of alien life” is likely the beginning of a bid to get your undivided attention before full-forced disclosure ensues.

Most people already believe what NASA Chief Scientist Ellen Stofan states:
“I think we’re going to have strong indications of life beyond Earth within a decade . . .I think we’re going to have definitive evidence within 20-30 years.”

It isn’t going to take that long if we open our eyes.

Stofan goes on to say:

“We’re on the verge of things that people have wondered about for millennia. Within all of our lifetimes we’re going to understand that there is life on other bodies in the solar system. We’re going to understand the implications of that for life here on Earth.”

What we’re going to understand is that our ‘secret’ government has been hiding this fact for ages. In an effort to transition the US and other countries through its reach to a cabal-run oligarchy, our shadow government has been lying about off-planet corporate slavery rings, alien abductions, benevolent beings who can only do so much until our collective consciousness elevates, and much, much more.

William Cooper, among others, tried to disclose the true purpose of NASA, but he was exterminated. His death, among thousands of others, will not be in vain.

We will learn that aside from extraterrestrial beings visiting our planet and many different ET races tinkering with our DNA over millenia, there are ancient humanoid races that are more than 10 million years old.

We will learn that a recent computer hacking retrieved millions of government and corporate personnel records, some say as part of documentation for Nuremburg-like trials, will begin soon against those who have mind-controlled, enslaved and tortured us. Undeniable photos of UFOs were also unearthed.

We will also learn that chemtrails and GMOs were the LEAST of plans made for us ‘sheeple’ and ‘useless eaters’ by a Luciferian cabal, and that President Harry Truman signed a document with certain ETs that allowed the ‘elite’ to conduct highly technological experiments with intelligence gained from these ETs in exchange for looking the other way when certain humans were abducted for ET experiments.

We will learn that we are not helpless, as we have been programmed to believe. We are, in fact, a rare humanoid race that has an incredible range of emotion and creative power. We will learn that our minds and emotions can either fuel chaos on this planet, or restore it to its rightful place of peace and cooperation, of care for others at least as much as ourselves.

We will learn that our ascension into infinitely peaceful beings is indeed possible, and it has been described in countless books, many of which have been suppressed along with UFO information.

NASA is telling us now that the likelihood of alien life is a ruse. Be sure to remember those who have been executed to try to prove this information to us decades ago, and to use discernment when the truth is finally revealed.

Here’s the full disclosure by William Cooper:

Holy Man Hasn’t Eaten In 75 Years – Confirmed By Doctors

What is the longest you have gone without a piece of food or a glass of water? A holy man in India claims that he has not eaten or drank anything for 75 years! Prahlad Jani is the 83-year old man who lives in a cave near Amba JI Temple without any kind of food or water since the age of 7. Why in the world would a man choose to not eat for such a long time, and how is he still alive?

Mr. Jani claims that he has left his home at the age of seven searching for spiritual mystery when he was blessed by 3 Hindu goddesses. Here is the story in his own words:

“Three goddesses appeared to me and bade me to follow. Ma Kali, Ma Lakshmi, and Ma Saraswati. I consented, prepared myself, and asked: ‘What about my food?’ They each put a finger on my lip and said ‘You need not be concerned about food ever again’. I was 7, and from that day I stopped eating and drinking.”

Ever since that blessing, Prahlad Jani claims that he has gained his sustenance from the nectar that filters down through a hole in his palate. A bunch of bogus, right? Maybe not.

His claims were scientifically studied by a team of 30 specialists during three weeks of a variety of tests at a hospital.

They took him into then Sterling Hospital in Ahmedabad, India. They put him under 24 hour observation in front of cameras and found out that he did not take any kind of food or water in the 15 days that he was in hospital. No food or water for half that time would be a sure death for anybody else. And he did not pass urine or stool either.

The doctors were completely surprised at this miracle. “We believe that the sadhu Prahlad Jani’s body went through biological transformation as a result of meditation and powerful yoga in a completely natural environment that he stays.” said neurologist Dr. Sudhir Shah.

The doctors in India are guessing that this phenomenon relates the Amrita Chakra (third eye chakra), as Hindu vedas speak of it being able to produce a divine nectar which sustains life.

What’s more is that his brain resembles that of a 25 year old man at 83 years of age. His practices have somehow miraculously transformed the biological functioning of his body, which no longer needs energy and sustenance from external material sources.

Is this even possible?

This sounds crazy, but let’s think about it for a minute. What do we need from food? The minerals, which are made out of molecules, which are made out of atoms, which are made out of quarks, which are made out of superstrings, which is ultimately part of the Unified Field or Superstring Field.

At a fundamental level of nature, nutrition is really just vibrating strings of non-local energy. Could he somehow be receiving this information somehow without the need to physically ingest food? Here is a news report by the doctors who observed him at the hospital:

Headaches After Meditation, Pineal Gland Third Eye Activation & Body Cleansing

It's normal to experience some discomfort or physical pain when you start to meditate for the first time. Some individuals, not all, experience physical pain or emotional turmoil when they first achieve silence of the mind and open the gateway to cosmic energy. Much cleansing occurs within both your physical body complex and subtle spirit body. Some stored-up negative energies are dislodging and beginning to clear, causing some physical symptoms to occur. Headaches are common, especially at the top of the head or the forehead due to the pineal gland, or third eye, getting a work-out that it's not used to.

When you close your eyes the darkness activates the pineal gland, which then secretes melatonin into your cerebral fluid which starts the process of sleep. You are conscious however during meditation, but the same effect is felt – meditation is conscious sleep. Turn out the lights, the pineal gland activates and the gateway to intelligent infinity opens. You use your pineal gland during sleep and at certain points of the day while subconsciously sending and receiving energies and communications to and from the spirit world. However, the process of meditation gives your pineal gland a more strenuous workout than usual.
If you rarely used your left arm and had to lift a heavy weight, it'd be hard work right? It might even hurt at the time or ache after. The same is true for the pineal gland. You need to exercise this organ and increase blood flow by using it. It will become stronger as a result.

During the first week or two you may experience headaches straight after meditation. The headache can last for several hours. There are two possible causes for the headache – the new strenuous workout as already mentioned, plus the clearing of negative energies from the pineal gland and the head area itself.

Imagine that many years of stress, anxiety, and negative energies have built up in this area before your spiritual awakening and urge to meditate began. The process of dislodging and expelling these negative energies causes pain and discomfort in the affected regions of the body. As few as five to ten, half-hour long meditation sessions could clear these blockages, but meditation should be continued to keep them clear.

Pain can be felt throughout the body. One reason is that you may not be used to sitting in your meditative position, such as the lotus position. This may be resulting in some backache. Set down some cushions and give yourself a back rest to lean against. Your body should adjust and get used to your new positioning over time.

(Here's a good book: Pineal Gland & Your Third Eye: Proven Methods to Develop Your Higher Self).

Pain can also be felt throughout your physical body, or in different areas of the body due to accumulation of negative energies. Daily stresses, worries and negative emotions are stored in several parts of your body, but each person tends to have a main area where these energies build up. Some people experience upper back pain, others digestive discomfort, others headaches, and so on.

Have you ever noticed that during times of intense stress, your usual physical ailments flair up? You are collecting and storing your negative energies in the usual place in your body. Once your area of concentrated negative energy accumulation is targeted by healing energies, a great deal of pain can be experienced in that area. You're being healed however and you will feel better soon.

When you first start to meditate, you open the gateway to intelligent infinity and cleansing healing energies. These enter through the top of the head, through the pineal gland and trickle down through your body. Your subtle (or spirit) body is cleansed and your physical body in turn is cleansed. Your chakras are being unblocked so that energy is free to flow in balanced amounts, your sub energy centers and energy pathways too are cleared and energized. Negative energy is ousted and removed.

The mind is also rejuvenated by the in-pouring of healing energies. The process of cleansing the mind, and the unblocking and balancing of the chakras, can cause emotional flare-ups and turmoil. You may find yourself thinking 'why am I acting like this?' You could become quite bi-polar in your emotions, that is for instance, angry for a time and then very happy soon after. Stored up negative thought forms and emotional energies are being dislodged and cleared. This outpouring of negative energies can cause emotional and erratic behavior on it's way out.
While physical pain and emotional flare-ups only occur for some people when they start to meditate for the first time, it should not discourage anyone from meditating. More and more meditation will clear your physical complaints and fully activate your energy centers, cleansing the physical and subtle body over time. Know that the benefits both physically and mentally will have a big impact on your life.

This Is What's Happening In the Brains of People Who "See" Music

To Pharrell Williams, the verses of his years-long hit "Happy" have always been yellow and red. Or reddish. "[W]ell ... it's not red, it's more like orange, but then it's a little pink, a little rainbow-y, because of the minor chords or whatever," Williams told the Dinner Party Download.

Williams has an auditory-specific form of a neurological condition called synesthesia. It's a condition in which one's sensory perceptions are involuntarily unified. Seeing colors and patterns based off music is one of the most common varieties, also called chromaesthesia. But other synesthetes can taste music, or, see colors associated with certain numbers or days of the week.

Though it was once thought of as a disorder, it is common to some of the most brilliant musicians. The list of artists who have it is long, including Billy Joel, Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Dev Hynes, Frank Ocean and Mary J. Blige. This is what we know about the mysterious inside of the synesthete's mind.

Disorder or eccentricity? For years, synesthesia has suffered the stigma of being a mental "disorder." Throughout the years, many synesthetes remained silent about their gifts. In some artists' cases, they feared it would invalidate their actual musical talents.

"People were very afraid to admit they had it because they didn't want people to think that this special gift was the sole basis for their talent," Carol Steen, co-founder of the American Synesthesia Association, told Pitchfork. "They'd think, 'If I tell people that I have this gift, maybe they'll think that all the practicing I've done doesn't mean anything.'"

But the sting of that stigma has lessened recently, replaced by a fascination. Indie pop crooner Dev Hynes has been very open about his synesthesia. Last November, he gave a TED talk describing his process of writing music using his synesthetic connections. His tone colors are markedly different from those Pharrell describes, which points to a fundamental truth about synesthesia: Every artist's color associations and experiences with the condition are different. Several artists, like Melissa McCracken, even put what they see onto canvas.

Early research. Scientists largely declined to study synesthesia until around the 1980s, when MRIs suggested there was a legitimate neurological basis for the feeling. Early research suggested that synesthesia was simply a case of crossed mental wires. The auditory cortex, where music and sound are first processed, is close to the occipital lobe, where the brain distinguishes color and shape.

Simultaneously triggered senses are examples of the brain making excess neurological connections or failing to prune existing connections. In fact, the brains of infant primates show evidence that their senses are all a hyperconnective blend until a few weeks or months after birth. By that logic, we all may be synesthetes until we grow out of it.

Neonatal theory has been criticized in recent years, though, as has all research that frames synesthesia as a neurological disorder. Researchers out of the University of London and the University of Oxford argued that the development of adult synesthesia is "better explained by their being learned" than by erroneously pruned connections.

Learning to see sound. In March 2015, neurologists Jean-Michel Hupé and Michel Dojat studied the brain scans of synesthetes and found no evidence of any structural differences in their brains. "If none of the proposed structural or functional differences [claimed to exist in synesthesia are] confirmed," they write, according to Discover, "this would speak against synesthesia being a neurological condition. But, then, what could be the nature of synesthesia?"

They proposed that synesthesia may be learned and arise from childhood memories. A 2014 study performed by Olympia Colizoli of University of Amsterdam supports this hypothesis to a certain extent. Colizoli trained a group of participants to associate colors with specific letters to simulate a grapheme-color synesthesia (one of the most common forms) by having participants read passages where specific letters were colored. Another 2014 study from the University of Sussex reviewed a 1944 study in which researchers successfully taught listeners to create sound-color synesthesia connections

How exactly children learn sound-color synesthesia, and why some children retain the ability and some don't, remains a mystery. But science is getting closer to finding an answer, and if it does nail down the process, it could prove to be a game changer for music education. In a February 2015 article for the Psychologist, Jack Dutton looked at research that found that people with chromaesthesia are more likely to engage with creative pursuits and play instruments, which would explain the long list of artists with that specific neurological profile.

"These findings imply that if scientists are able to figure out a way to teach people chromaesthesia, it may enhance how well people learn to read and compose music," Dutton wrote.
It's a fascinating prospect. One day, any child might be able to grow up see Pharrell-like rainbows in music, if they so choose.

Whether it's considered a disorder, a blessing or a choice, synesthesia is one of the most strange and magnificent things the human mind can do.

The Warriors of the Rainbow Prophecy

One day... there would come a time, when the earth being ravaged and polluted, the forests being destroyed, the birds would fall from the air, the waters would be blackened, the fish being poisoned in the streams, and the trees would no longer be, mankind as we would know it would all but cease to exist.
This is how the ‘Rainbow prophecy’ begins, as retold by a woman of the Cree Indian nation of America over a century ago.

The Cree are one of the largest groups of the First Nations Native Americans in North America. There are over 135 bands of Cree living in Canada, with a total population of approximately 200,000 today.

The Rainbow prophecy, as it has come to be known, refers to the keepers of the legends, rituals, and other myths that will be needed when the time comes to restore the health on Earth.  It is believed that these legendary beings will return on a day of awakening, when all people will unite and create a new world of justice, peace and freedom, and they will be named the ‘Warriors of the Rainbow’. They will reteach the values and the knowledge that has been lost in time, demonstrating how to have wisdom and extra-perception, and how unity, harmony and love is the only way forward.

The rainbow reference relates to the different colours of the original people:

At the beginning of this cycle of time, long ago, the Great Spirit came down and He made an appearance and He gathered the peoples of this earth together, they say on an island which is now beneath the water, and He said to the human beings, "I'm going to send you to four directions and over time I'm going to change you to four colours, but I'm going to give you some teachings and you will call these the Original Teachings and when you come back together with each other you will share these so that you can live and have peace on earth, and a great civilization will come about.
Prophecy as told by Lee Brown of the Salish Tribe at the 1986 Continental Indigenous Council, Alaska.

A particularly interesting part of the prophecy relates to the choosing of leaders.  According to the story, a leader will not be the one that talks the loudest, boasts of successes, or has the support of the elite. Leaders will be those whose actions speak the loudest, the ones that have demonstrated wisdom and courage and have proven that they work for the benefit of all. Isn’t this how things should be?

The Rainbow has always held special significance among the different Native American Indian Nations. It is connected to the Spirit (Supreme God/Creator) in all things. Apart from the Cree prophecy there are many prophecies and stories from the Hopi, the Zuni and the Cherokee related to the rainbow warriors.

There will come a day when people of all races, colors, and creeds will put aside their differences. They will come together in love, joining hands in unification, to heal the Earth and all Her children. They will move over the Earth like a great Whirling Rainbow, bringing peace, understanding and healing everywhere they go. Many creatures thought to be extinct or mythical will resurface at this time; the great trees that perished will return almost overnight. All living things will flourish, drawing sustenance from the breast of our Mother, the Earth.

The great spiritual Teachers who walked the Earth and taught the basics of the truths of the Whirling Rainbow Prophecy will return and walk amongst us once more, sharing their power and understanding with all. We will learn how to see and hear in a sacred manner. Men and women will be equals in the way Creator intended them to be; all children will be safe anywhere they want to go. Elders will be respected and valued for their contributions to life. Their wisdom will be sought out. The whole Human race will be called The People and there will be no more war, sickness or hunger forever.
Navajo-Hopi Prophecy of the Whirling Rainbow

In the time of the Seventh Fire, a New People would emerge. They would retrace their steps to find the wisdom that was left by the side of the trail long ago. Their steps would take them to the elders, who they would ask to guide them on their journey. If the New People remain strong in their quest, the sacred drum will again sound its voice. There will be an awakening of the people, and the sacred fire will again be lit. At this time, the light-skinned race will be given a choice between two roads. One road is the road of greed and technology without wisdom or respect for life. This road represents a rush to destruction. The other road is spirituality, a slower path that includes respect for all living things. If we choose the spiritual path, we can light yet another fire, an Eight Fire, and begin an extended period of Peace and healthy growth.

References to a new Era, a Golden Age characterized by harmony, stability and prosperity, do not just belong to the Native Americans, but can be found in myths and legends from all over the world.  It is known as Chryson Genos in Greek mythology, the Kali yuga in Vedic and Hindu culture, and gullaldr in Norse mythology.  One aspect that is common among many legends of the Golden era is the return of beings or gods that will aid in the restoration of the Earth.

In classical Greek mythology the Golden Age was presided over by the leading Titan Cronus. In some version of the myth Astraea, also ruled. She lived with men until the end of the Silver Age, but in the Bronze Age, when men became violent and greedy, fled to the stars, where she appears as the constellation Virgo, holding the scales of Justice, or Libra.

Whether these prophecies are true or not, much of what is spoken about – the era of greed and violence – is a reality throughout much of the world today.  Corruption, greed, poverty, consumerism, power to the few, and injustice are predominant characteristics of our civilization accompanied by a great technological advancement that has become a weapon for mass destruction and a tool for supressing resistance.  Whether beings from the past will interfere or not, one thing is for sure, life cannot continue in this way forever.
