Mars: Over 100 NASA Scientists Quit Or Retire Early Over ‘Security Obsession’ With Mars Rover – What Are ‘They’ So ‘Obsessed’ About?

Is something HUGE going on with Mars that NASA and the Department of Homeland Security DO NOT want the public to know about? Due to NASA’s new found ‘security obsession’ with the Mars Rover, over 100 NASA scientists and engineers have recently either quit their jobs or retired early. What in the world are NASA and the Department of Homeland Security so obsessed about with Mars and the Mars Rover? According to this story at "This Can’t Be Happening":

“Thanks to the zealous wackos at the Department of Homeland Security, back in 2007 during the latter part of the Bush administration an order went out that all workers at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena–an organization that is run under contract to NASA by the California Institute of Technology, had to be vetted for high security clearance in order to continue doing their jobs. Never mind that not one of them was or is engaged in secret activities (NASA is a rigorously non-military, scientific agency which not only publishes all its findings, but which invites the active participation of scientists from around the world). In order to continue working at JPL, even scientists who had been with NASA for decades were told they would need a high-level security badge just to enter the premises. To be issued that badge, they were told they would need to agree undergo an intensive FBI check that would look into their prior life history, right back to college.”

Now, who would blame the many scientists and engineers at JPL who took this as an extreme invasion of their privacy? To get their clearance, TPTB were going to contact their neighbors and old colleagues to be interrogated about their drug-use, drinking habits, arrest records as kids, all the countless things that are looked into when doing a high-security background check. Why would NASA scientists be subject to the same prying invasion of their privacy that they would get if they were applying for jobs in the CIA or the Secret Service?

Not everyone who quit over this issue was a scientist. Susan Foster, a senior science writer at JPL, began her career there working as a secretary in 1968, even before the first Apollo moon landing. She says she quit solely because of the NASA requirement that she submit to a “waiving of my Fourth Amendment rights or be denied access to the facility” where she had worked for 44 years. She is currently unemployed and looking for work.


What upset her most, she says, was NASA’s plan to use the information it obtained on its scientists’ and employees’ lives to create a “suitability matrix,” which would be used to see if they merited continued employment. In questioning JPL management, Foster says people learned that this “suitability matrix” would be considering things like “whether JPL scientists had participated in political demonstrations that could qualify in NASA’s scheme of things as disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, unlawful assembly” — all activities that she says many of JPL’s scientists had engaged in over the years. Says Foster, “Criteria such as ‘attitude’ are pretty frightening in their subjectivity, and ‘striking against the government’ is chilling to anyone who has supported, say, a legitimate teachers’ action.”

This disaster at JPL is a classic case of the US security state run amok, and provides yet another example of how the Obama administration, which came into office in 2009 promising to return the country to some kind of sanity and respect for the Constitution, has instead driven 100 invaluable scientists out of JPL, weakening the nation’s already struggling space program, and has put hundreds of scientists’ lives, and the lives of their families, at risk.

Egyptians Swarm Palace in Protest

Opposed to President's Power Expansion, Thousands Break Through Cordon; Morsi Leaves for Suburb, Spokesman Says

CAIRO—Tens of thousands of Egyptians tore through cordons of barbed wire and riot police and surged against the gates of the Presidential Palace in Cairo on Tuesday, as anger mounted over what they called a power grab by the country's Islamist president.

The crowd remained into the early hours Wednesday, with protesters massed at the palace wall and police stationed inside, echoing a standoff that pits Egypt's ruling Islamists against nearly every other political force over the country's hastily drafted constitution and President Mohammed Morsi's recent decree granting himself nearly unrestricted powers.

Tens of thousands of protesters filled Cairo's central Tahrir Square earlier Tuesday and marched through the coast city of Alexandria. But it was the march on the palace, the largest such gathering since the uprising that ousted President Hosni Mubarak early last year, that seemed to bring Egyptian politics to a dangerous crossroads.

"We woke up one day and found a very radical Islamic situation," said Walid Ahmed, a 37-year-old engineer protesting outside the palace. "The president is pushing us toward civil war."

With protesters threatening to storm the palace walls for the first time in recent Egyptian history, Mr. Morsi left the palace for his home in a remote Cairo suburb, according to a Muslim Brotherhood spokesman.

Each camp in the showdown sent mixed messages, beginning with defiant statements swearing off compromise. Ahmed Kamel, a spokesman for an alliance of opposition parties leading the outcry against Mr. Morsi, said there would be no talks or compromise until Mr. Morsi canceled his controversial decree. Brotherhood spokesman Gehad al-Haddad said his movement's rank and file "are boiling angry" at the opposition, which he characterized as ex-regime loyalists trying to hijack the will of the people.

Yet there were also signs that some leaders on both sides were reaching for a way out.

Hours before Tuesday's march on the palace, opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei urged his supporters to confine their protests to Tahrir Square. The call went unheeded by many. Mr. Haddad said Mr. Morsi ordered riot police to avoid confronting protesters as much as possible.

Late Tuesday, reports circulated in some Egyptian media outlets that Mr. Morsi was hunkered down with aides weighing a face-saving compromise. Ayman Seyad, a former adviser to Mr. Morsi who remains in close contact with Mr. Morsi's aides, said those aides told him Tuesday that Mr. Morsi was considering scrapping the most controversial parts of his decree.

The decree, issued Nov. 22, put nearly all state powers in Mr. Morsi's hands and placed the president above the judicial branch. It was one of the most sweeping expansions of executive powers in the modern Egyptian state. Coming just six months after the former Muslim Brotherhood leader narrowly won the country's first democratic presidential election, Mr. Morsi's decree appeared to confirm many Egyptians worst fears about Islamists.






In competing protests in recent days, both Islamists and their foes have mustered some of the largest crowds since the revolution. In Hurghada in the Red Sea region, anti-Morsi crowds beseiged a provincial government building, local media outlets reported.

At Cairo's Presidential Palace, legions of riot police who had formed barricades around the palace earlier in the day tried to fight off the crowds with truncheons and tear gas.

Some protesters choked on tear gas, gasping for air and vomiting into the gutter. Others danced on top of an armored personnel carrier seized from riot police and spray painted antigovernment slogans on it. Protesters took over guard posts and set up a makeshift stage on the back of a flatbed truck just outside the palace's main gate.

In Cairo's leafy Heliopolis neighborhood, protesters chanted many of the same slogans that echoed throughout Egypt during the uprising against Mr. Mubarak last year. "Leave means go! Morsi doesn't get it," went one chant.

As the number of protesters swelled into tens of thousands, riot police retreated behind the palace walls. The retreat appeared to calm violence, even as heavily armed legions of Egypt's elite presidential guards waited within the palace walls.

By late Tuesday, protest organizers shooed children off the gates, saying they don't aim to breach palace gates or walls. Crowds near the palace cheered some of the police. As midnight approached, protesters remained massed outside the palace, whose walls were covered with fresh graffiti against the edict and rushed draft constitution.

Coming to the palace was crucial to prove to Mr. Morsi that many Egyptians were opposed to him and his Islamist allies, said Karim Assem, 33 years old. "The point is we exist, and they refuse to acknowledge this," he said.

Mr. Morsi has said his decree is temporary until a new constitution is drafted and approved in a popular referendum, which is currently slated for Dec. 15. The decree was necessary, he has said, to prevent judges still loyal to the old regime from derailing the country's democratic transition.

But at the time of the decree, the constitution-drafting process was unraveling because of tensions with non-Islamist representatives in the assembly tasked with writing the new document. Christians, seculars, liberals and other non-Islamist members—nearly a quarter of the drafting body—resigned, accusing the Islamists of ignoring their concerns. The assembly pressed on, drafting the document months ahead of schedule and just days after Mr. Morsi's decree.

But instead of expediting Egypt's transition, Mr. Morsi's decree and the rushed drafting of the constitution united Egypt's fractured opposition ranks more so than at any point since Mr. Mubarak's fall.

If Mr. Morsi stays his course, the crisis could escalate further; if he backs down, he may alienate his Islamist base and make it hard to regain the trust of non-Islamists.

"If he cancels the decree now, it might be political suicide for him," said Mr. Seyad, the former Morsi adviser. "And that still might not be enough to end the crisis."

However the crisis ends, Mr. Morsi looks likely to face a more polarized political environment. He also continues to face economic problems that demand unpopular policies, such as cutting subsidies and devaluing the currency, that would be easier to pass with broad support.

"The moment of crisis really comes if the bottom drops out under the economy," said Elijah Zarwan, a fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations. "And then, my fear is, that economic unrest combined with a political atmosphere that has been poisoned by Morsi's recent moves, could combine to form really serious unrest."

Entire Ukraine Government Resigns

Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and the entire government resigned today in a surprise move after controversial elections as the economy teeters on the brink of recession.

The presidency said President Viktor Yanukovych had accepted Mr Azarov's request to give up his post and become an MP, a move expected to be repeated by several cabinet ministers.

It remained unclear who would fill the powerful post of premier, with some analysts speculating it could go to a member of the elite close to Mr Yanukovych known as the "Family".

"President Viktor Yanukovych accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, satisfying the demand of the latter," the statement added. The move came as a new parliament prepares to meet after October 28 legislative elections which raised new concerns about democratic standards under Mr Yanukovych.

The ruling Regions Party appears to have retained control of the Verkhovna Rada with the help of independents despite a strong challenge from the opposition parties of boxer Vitali Klitschko and imprisoned ex-premier Yulia Tymoshenko.

OSCE observers slammed the polls as a setback for Ukraine, marred by the absence of Ms Tymoshenko who is serving a seven-year sentence on abuse of power charges she says were trumped up by Mr Yanukovych.

But economists also fear the country is entering troubled times and could be on the brink of a new recession that would see it seek billions of dollars in disbursements from an IMF standby package.
Ukraine's economy contracted by 1.2 percent in the third quarter of this year, and several banks fear the country is heading for zero growth in 2012, not to mention a sharp devaluation of the local currency.

"This (the resignation) is linked to a number of economic challenges which Ukraine has fallen into thanks to this president and this government," said opposition leader Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

A Russian-speaking bureaucrat mocked by many in Ukraine for his dry and humourless image, Mr Azarov took office in 2010 shortly after Mr Yanukovych defeated Ms Tymoshenko in a fiercely-contested presidential election.

Mr Azarov has always been seen as a close ally of Mr Yanukovych, but some analysts believe his power base has been undermined by the recent rise of a "Family" of close acquaintances of the president into top positions.

Possible successors to Mr Azarov could include First Deputy Prime Minister Valery Khoroshkovsky and National Bank chief Sergiy Arbuzov, analysts said.

mr Arbuzov, 36, is seen as a key member of the "Family" of Yanukovych allies.

His meteoric rise to one of the most important economic jobs in the country has raised eyebrows in Ukraine. He is a confidant of Mr Yanukovych's increasingly powerful son Olexander, who is regarded as the Family kingpin.

"It is possible that this radical resignation makes sense; it is better to dissolve the government and appoint another one," said Kostyantyn Bondarenko, head of the Ukrainian Politics Institute.

He said that resignation made sense for Mr Azarov, who was approaching the pension age of 65 and would have had to work on replacing a string of ministers had he stayed in power.

Mr Yanukovych has been criticised for concentrating ever more power around himself and allies since defeating the leaders of the pro-Western Orange Revolution in the 2010 polls.

Other candidates for prime minister could include national security chief Andriy Kluyev and deputy presidential chief of staff Iryna Akimova.

Ukrainian parliament speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn said that a decision on the composition of the new government could be taken on December 13 or 14 after the new parliament convenes.

The ministers will remain in their posts until a new government is formed, the presidency said.
It also noted that under Ukrainian law, whenever the prime minister resigns the entire government must do so.

The presidency explained the mass resignation by saying that Mr Azarov had decided to take up a parliamentary seat rather than staying on as prime minister.

Under Ukrainian law, deputies have to cease their former work in order to take up their seats in parliament.

Along with Mr Azarov, a number of other ministers were elected to parliament including Deputy Prime Minister Sergiy Tigipko and Economy Minister Petro Poroshenko.

Most intriguing of all is the article in the Houston Chronicle, linked in the widely read Drudge Report, about Bush’s health. If you click on the to the article above, the James Bond theme song starts playing and a video ad appears for the latest James Bond movie with a subtitle about Bush’s hospitalization at the bottom of the video (or at least it did at the time of writing this article).

These reports coincide with a major move to start shipping North American oil and oil products to Asia as a substitute for Middle Eastern oil. It is also big oil’s plea to Japan to agree to a gradual transition away from oil and into new energy sources.

The effort to start shipping North American oil to Asia comes amid a glut (thanks to new technologies) in North American fossil fuel supplies. That is why it seems to be no coincidence that the heads of biggest non-North American oil powers (the Bushes control Iraq) all got “sick” simultaneously.




In this context, North American LPG and LNG is being offered to Asian buyers for long term contracts at a 30-50% discount from Middle Eastern prices, according to a major Japanese oil products importer.

Until recently the Japanese were forced to pay the highest prices in the world for oil and had to rely on the Middle East for almost all of it supplies. Any attempts to buy from elsewhere in the world were ruthlessly suppressed by Western oil oligarchs.

Negotiations have just started and the shift will take a few years (the time needed to build pipelines) using current technology.

In that context, the latest intelligence on the new financial system reveals that the US dollar is here to stay even though the soon to be restored Republic of the United States itself will start issuing its own separate (and devalued) greenbacks.

The reason for this, as mentioned before in this newsletter, is that most of the dollars ever created are not owned by Americans. Any attempt by the US to unilaterally devalue the US dollar would lead to other countries to devalue by the same amount, making such a move impossible. I must apologize for the interview that folks heard on the net, I have turned down many interviews in the past, this time I did not know I was being recorded so, I was little 'blue' for some listeners. Much info I have been sitting on for years and have kept to myself. When you Know the game and the players, you know the lies being perpetrated thru the media. When the info is given to the public, I won't be one of the people shocked by what is told, I'll be relieved. And my head won't be exploding anymore with 'contained' intel and info. Just because you know something doesn't mean you need to speak it out to the uninitiated that have no background in understanding.

I know the world you are entering but to explain it in detail, I would fail miserably because it is of something that is far from people's experience. What they've been taught since youth. So, for some it will be like being a little tyke going to their first day in school. The bad guys in this world are in panic mode so, the venom coming out of their mouths and off their finger tips is at an all time high. They aren't the first I have ticked off, that honor belongs to my parents. I asked too many unsettling questions, to which they responded by saying, 'that's the way it is and why can't you just leave things alone?'. Now those questions are about to be answered, publicly. That's why they are in fear of exposure. Don't cry now, you didn't cry when you did what you did. Don't expect to hear about the guilty and the arrested going out in the daily news, not time yet. Close but, not this instant. You can be sure their families know, they haven't come home from work. Most had no prior knowledge their jobs were in jeopardy. So no chance to 'set up' for their terminations. The 60 at the us treasury were just snatched in the moment.

Before this all hits the ground, the rafters performed some operations to make sure you wouldn't be going thru a bunch of crap once you went to the banks to access. It's not like folks didn't have plenty of warning prior to this, they chose to believe...it would never happen or that somehow they could stop it. Study long, study wrong. If your theory is wrong, sooner or later it will prove wrong.

Love is the most powerful force in the universe, not all that relative stuff. The creative force that causes all to exist. Pure unaldulterated love. Sometime Truth sounds mean...oh well, get over yourself. The warm and cuddly's are over, time to put your big pants on and be the adult. Remember: 10,000 may fall on your right side, 10,000 at your left, but, not a hair on your head would be harmed. Could you be loved?
