IMF's epic plan to conjure away debt and dethrone bankers

So there is a magic wand after all. A revolutionary paper by the International Monetary Fund claims that one could eliminate the net public debt of the US at a stroke, and by implication do the same for Britain, Germany, Italy, or Japan.

The IMF reports says the conjuring trick is to replace our system of private bank-created money.

One could slash private debt by 100pc of GDP, boost growth, stabilize prices, and dethrone bankers all at the same time. It could be done cleanly and painlessly, by legislative command, far more quickly than anybody imagined.

The conjuring trick is to replace our system of private bank-created money -- roughly 97pc of the money supply -- with state-created money. We return to the historical norm, before Charles II placed control of the money supply in private hands with the English Free Coinage Act of 1666.

Specifically, it means an assault on "fractional reserve banking". If lenders are forced to put up 100pc reserve backing for deposits, they lose the exorbitant privilege of creating money out of thin air.

The nation regains sovereign control over the money supply. There are no more banks runs, and fewer boom-bust credit cycles. Accounting legerdemain will do the rest. That at least is the argument.

Some readers may already have seen the IMF study, by Jaromir Benes and Michael Kumhof, which came out in August and has begun to acquire a cult following around the world.

Entitled "The Chicago Plan Revisited", it revives the scheme first put forward by professors Henry Simons and Irving Fisher in 1936 during the ferment of creative thinking in the late Depression.

Irving Fisher thought credit cycles led to an unhealthy concentration of wealth. He saw it with his own eyes in the early 1930s as creditors foreclosed on destitute farmers, seizing their land or buying it for a pittance at the bottom of the cycle.

The farmers found a way of defending themselves in the end. They muscled together at "one dollar auctions", buying each other's property back for almost nothing. Any carpet-bagger who tried to bid higher was beaten to a pulp.

Benes and Kumhof argue that credit-cycle trauma - caused by private money creation - dates deep into history and lies at the root of debt jubilees in the ancient religions of Mesopotian and the Middle East.

Harvest cycles led to systemic defaults thousands of years ago, with forfeiture of collateral, and concentration of wealth in the hands of lenders. These episodes were not just caused by weather, as long thought. They were amplified by the effects of credit.

The Athenian leader Solon implemented the first known Chicago Plan/New Deal in 599 BC to relieve farmers in hock to oligarchs enjoying private coinage. He cancelled debts, restituted lands seized by creditors, set floor-prices for commodities (much like Franklin Roosevelt), and consciously flooded the money supply with state-issued "debt-free" coinage.

The Romans sent a delegation to study Solon's reforms 150 years later and copied the ideas, setting up their own fiat money system under Lex Aternia in 454 BC.

It is a myth - innocently propagated by the great Adam Smith - that money developed as a commodity-based or gold-linked means of exchange. Gold was always highly valued, but that is another story. Metal-lovers often conflate the two issues.

Anthropological studies show that social fiat currencies began with the dawn of time. The Spartans banned gold coins, replacing them with iron disks of little intrinsic value. The early Romans used bronze tablets. Their worth was entirely determined by law - a doctrine made explicit by Aristotle in his Ethics - like the dollar, the euro, or sterling today.

Some argue that Rome began to lose its solidarity spirit when it allowed an oligarchy to develop a private silver-based coinage during the Punic Wars. Money slipped control of the Senate. You could call it Rome's shadow banking system. Evidence suggests that it became a machine for elite wealth accumulation.

Unchallenged sovereign or Papal control over currencies persisted through the Middle Ages until England broke the mould in 1666. Benes and Kumhof say this was the start of the boom-bust era.
One might equally say that this opened the way to England's agricultural revolution in the early 18th Century, the industrial revolution soon after, and the greatest economic and technological leap ever seen. But let us not quibble.

The original authors of the Chicago Plan were responding to the Great Depression. They believed it was possible to prevent the social havoc caused by wild swings from boom to bust, and to do so without crimping economic dynamism.

The benign side-effect of their proposals would be a switch from national debt to national surplus, as if by magic. "Because under the Chicago Plan banks have to borrow reserves from the treasury to fully back liabilities, the government acquires a very large asset vis-à-vis banks. Our analysis finds that the government is left with a much lower, in fact negative, net debt burden."

The IMF paper says total liabilities of the US financial system - including shadow banking - are about 200pc of GDP. The new reserve rule would create a windfall. This would be used for a "potentially a very large, buy-back of private debt", perhaps 100pc of GDP.

While Washington would issue much more fiat money, this would not be redeemable. It would be an equity of the commonwealth, not debt.

The key of the Chicago Plan was to separate the "monetary and credit functions" of the banking system. "The quantity of money and the quantity of credit would become completely independent of each other."

Private lenders would no longer be able to create new deposits "ex nihilo". New bank credit would have to be financed by retained earnings.

"The control of credit growth would become much more straightforward because banks would no longer be able, as they are today, to generate their own funding, deposits, in the act of lending, an extraordinary privilege that is not enjoyed by any other type of business," says the IMF paper.
"Rather, banks would become what many erroneously believe them to be today, pure intermediaries that depend on obtaining outside funding before being able to lend."

The US Federal Reserve would take real control over the money supply for the first time, making it easier to manage inflation. It was precisely for this reason that Milton Friedman called for 100pc reserve backing in 1967. Even the great free marketeer implicitly favoured a clamp-down on private money.

The switch would engender a 10pc boost to long-arm economic output. "None of these benefits come at the expense of diminishing the core useful functions of a private financial system."

Simons and Fisher were flying blind in the 1930s. They lacked the modern instruments needed to crunch the numbers, so the IMF team has now done it for them -- using the `DSGE' stochastic model now de rigueur in high economics, loved and hated in equal measure.

The finding is startling. Simons and Fisher understated their claims. It is perhaps possible to confront the banking plutocracy head without endangering the economy.

Benes and Kumhof make large claims. They leave me baffled, to be honest. Readers who want the technical details can make their own judgement by studying the text here

The IMF duo have supporters. Professor Richard Werner from Southampton University - who coined the term quantitative easing (QE) in the 1990s -- testified to Britain's Vickers Commission that a switch to state-money would have major welfare gains. He was backed by the campaign group Positive Money and the New Economics Foundation.

The theory also has strong critics. Tim Congdon from International Monetary Research says banks are in a sense already being forced to increase reserves by EU rules, Basel III rules, and gold-plated variants in the UK. The effect has been to choke lending to the private sector.

He argues that is the chief reason why the world economy remains stuck in near-slump, and why central banks are having to cushion the shock with QE.

"If you enacted this plan, it would devastate bank profits and cause a massive deflationary disaster. There would have to do `QE squared' to offset it," he said.

The result would be a huge shift in bank balance sheets from private lending to government securities. This happened during World War Two, but that was the anomalous cost of defeating Fascism.

To do this on a permanent basis in peace-time would be to change in the nature of western capitalism. "People wouldn't be able to get money from banks. There would be huge damage to the efficiency of the economy," he said.

Arguably, it would smother freedom and enthrone a Leviathan state. It might be even more irksome in the long run than rule by bankers.

Personally, I am a long way from reaching an conclusion in this extraordinary debate. Let it run, and let us all fight until we flush out the arguments.

One thing is sure. The City of London will have great trouble earning its keep if any variant of the Chicago Plan ever gains wide support.

How Many People Have Had Encounters with “Angelic Light” About “Something Big Coming”?

“There is something coming and the fabric of space and time is getting thin and things are coming through. ... I think it’s going to be either time travelers or other-dimensional beings.”

- Shane Elam, Commercial Real Estate, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Shane Elam's conscious encounter with “angelic” blue-white light in September or
October 2010, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma:  “I was inside the light and at first,
it was a misty, murky white. And then an electric blue spark started at like
the center of my vision and grew outward, almost like a cold fire.”
Shane Elam, Commercial Real Estate Planner, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: “I remember hearing a sound, what I believe was a thud. And I turned to look in the direction of the sound and at first I felt my body go rigid! And then I began to see this white light enveloped my vision. I was inside the light and at first, it was a misty, murky white. And then an electric blue spark started at like the center of my vision and grew outward, almost like a cold fire. In my mind’s eye, it was like I was inside of something. I was enveloped in it and the feeling came over me of total peace. It was like I was being connected into something. And I remember feeling at first a warmth come over me. It was almost like being – I could feel a pressure against my body - like a warm, silky liquid almost – enveloped my body. I could feel it all around me. I think I was floating a little bit. It was something I never encountered before."

...

"When I came to, an hour and a half to two hours of time were missing. And I remember when I came out of it, I realized I was weeping. But these were not tears of sadness. These were tears of joy because I had just experienced something that I took to mean angelic. I felt like I had been visited by higher power, like an angel and now my life was worth something – that I had work to do. And this message kept coming back to my mind:  ‘The sleeper must awaken.’"

...

Link with Universal Mind Coming?

The more I think about it, it’s almost like a forgotten knowledge. It’s like a Universal Mind, perhaps like a telepathic link that all humans share. Even animals have some sense of danger for an earthquake. We hear about birds flying away or animals running away knowing that something is coming. And I think we’ve been dumbed down!

You know, I think that our ancestors – they did not have all of this noise in their lives. And I think that somehow we’ve lost that link. And I think that somehow, it’s coming back. And it might be the fact that people are waking up to all the lies!

For so many years, we’ve let Washington, D. C. do what they do and other world leaders do what they do and continue to run things as usual. I don’t know if it’s some sort of thinning of space and time? Something is causing people to wake up and something is allowing us to link up to this Link!”

Gregg Braden Explains the Divine Matrix and the Isaiah Effect

Gregg Braden wrote The Isaiah Effect in 2000. Isaiah was a prophet from 2000 years ago. His scroll described how we choose which future we experience. Each time we make such a choice, we experience the Isaiah Effect.

Quantum science suggests the existence of many possible futures for each moment of our lives, or, infinite possibilities. Each future remains dormant until awakened by choices made in the present. Isn't it important to learn to make the best possible choices?

The Monk's Story

I say this knowing full well the story of a monk who showed his wisdom by not celebrating the results presented to him. When he won a brand new Mercedes, and people around him said, "Congratulations. Isn't that wonderful?" he answered, "Maybe." Then one night, he was driving home and was hit on the side and flipped over several times. He landed in the hospital with a complicated broken bone. People who came to visit said, "Ohhh. Bad Luck!" He answered, "Maybe." While he was in the hospital, a terrible storm created a mud slide which pushed his house down a hill and covered it in many, many feet of mud which most likely would have killed him. People came and said, "Thank goodness you were here!" He answered, "Maybe."

Maybe - Changing Our Choices to Change Our Realities

If you are a visual learner, we are going to recommend that you watch the following video carefully. It touches on both the idea in The Isaiah Effect that our destiny is in our hands/minds/consciousness, and that the Divine Matrix is affected by every thought and feeling we have.

And, before you watch it, please visit our history section, and study Wallace Wattlesbecause he is one of the primary teachers of the Law of Attraction. His teachings are highlighted and proven viable by another Gregg Braden video that focus' on the scientific proofs that show how the Law of Attraction can work. Don't miss out.

Then, as a daily practice, if you are serious, you will want to study the meditation of Charles Haanel.

Mike Dooley says, "Leave the cursed hows up to the Universe." He pleads with us to feel the feelings of success and happiness, and to trust the Universe, or the divine matrix, to find the way to provide the reasons for those feelings. Once we send out a wish, a manifestation, as did the Monk, we need to trust that it is all happening in our best interest.

Gregg Braden tells us that in the Bible code prophesy for the year 2012, repeated several times are the words, "Will you change it?" There are similarly tragic readings of Nostradamus and Edgar Cayce and the prophets before them, followed by apparently conflicting scenarios of peace and redemption. These indicate that there are markers of choice points along the road of time. The Hopi are clear that we are in one of these times now.

As Gregg describes the Hopi diagram of life, there are two parallel paths. The upper path turns into a zigzag that ends nowhere. Those who choose this path are represented with their heads detached from and hovering above their bodies. They will experience the great shift as a time of confusion and chaos leading to destruction. The lower path continues as a level line, strong and even. Those choosing this path live to advanced ages and their crops grow strong and healthy.

According to Gregg Braden, we are able to cross from one path to the other freely until the choice point 2/3rds of the way along. There is at that point a vertical line connecting the two. From that point on, a choice will have been made and there will not be another chance to change from one path to the other. Gregg quotes the prophesy, "If we hold fast to the sacred way as he (the Creator) devised it for us, what we have gained, we will never lose." We only have to choose between the two ways: "When earthquakes, floods, hailstorms, drought and famine will be the life of every day, the time will have then come for the return to the true path."

The Hopi Prophecy of Purification

Hopi elders believe that the severity of our cleansing is being determined. The phenomenal events in the world around us test the belief systems of individuals and entire populations. The prophecy promises that the final of three shakings will depend on "which path humans will walk: the greed, the comfort and the profit, or the path of love, strength and balance."

With the recent election in the United States, it seems that Americans who choose balance are standing up to those who choose fear and self interests. This is a path that will help us to move off the path leading to destruction, to the path of abundance for all.

Along these lines, Gregg Braden recommends the Global Coherence Initiative, which can be found at www.glcoherence.org. You will be able to join for free and you will be trained for and kept up to date on Global initiatives.

"Hearts for Peace": International Day of Peace Movie

Gregg Baden and The Divine Matrix

The Divine Matrix, as explained by Gregg Braden, is an intelligent Field of energy that western science has just come to understand. The most ancient traditions began with this understanding and spent 3,000 years devising the ways that it applies in our lives --sometimes called the Field. In 1944, Max Planc identified it as the Matrix. "All matter originates and exists by virtue of a Force. We must assume behind this force a conscious, intelligent Matrix." (The movie, The Matrix was based on some of this work by Max Planc....) Dr. Edgar Mitchell calls it Nature's Mind. Steven Hawking calls it The Mind of God. Lynn McTaggert calls it the Field.

This book by Gregg Braden, says that not only are we a part of this matrix, but we have the ability to communicate with this divine matrix in ways that seem miraculous in the Western world. He spent time in the monasteries in China, Egypt Bolivia and Peru because they have maintained communication with this divine matrix. Gregg Braden assures us that this was part of our culture until the instructions were edited out of our Biblical text in the 4th Century. When he began studying the Dead Sea Scrolls, Braden found that we once had as part of our history the same teachings that he was only finding in these out-of-the-way places. Afterwards, their practices began to seem very strange to westerners. We called them primitive practices.

Gregg Braden says that it is believed that the divine matrix was birthed simultaneously with the birth of our Universe. When our Universe had expanded to the size of a green pea, and was at about a billion, billion degrees, this divine matrix was carried with the expansion. Gregg Braden says that the divine matrix is a bridge between our inner experiences, feeling, emotion and belief and our outer worlds.

This matrix or divine matrix (http://www.amazon.com/Divine-Matrix-Bridging-Miracles-Belief/dp/1401905730/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8) carries everything from our healing, to the peace or violence in the world around us. It is also a mirror using the quantum essence of the stuff around us, of what we claim to be real. Gregg Braden believes that we will only see things in our life that agree with our reality. He doesn't discuss why this is, but Jill Bolte Taylor (see video at http://www.mindbridge-loa.com/Eckhart-Tolle.html) would explain that our left brain filters out what it doesn't believe.

Finally, it is a container, a substrate that holds everything together. In this way, Gregg Braden explains, the divine matrix connects us all. The divine matrix is very literal. It will mirror back to us our beliefs and feelings about our relationships, our checkbook and our relation to our communities. The ancient texts encourage us to feel our feelings as if our prayers have already been answered. For example, if, Gregg Braden explains, we ask for healing for our loved ones, we are affirming the illness or distress. The way to do it correctly, is to act as if it has already happened and to feel the feelings of gratitude and appreciation.

We have been conditioned in the United States, during the past 7 years, to be afraid. We can expect to see these feelings mirrored in the world around us and in our bodies. Fear chemistry is life denying and love chemistry is life affirming. We produce either cortisol or DHEA.

What if the Divine Matrix didn't exist? Max Planc says it is from this stuff that all matter originates by virtue of this divine matrix. It is the framework upon which all matter is hung and it is impossible that it does not exist. Like the water in the fish tank, it is not commonly noticed by those living in its environment, but they would not be able to live without it.

Gregg Braden explains that the divine matrix doesn't respond routinely to standard testing. There has been some debate about whether it actually exists. In 1887, Michaelson-Morley's experiment was called "Histories Greatest Failed Experiment".... Moisten your index finger and hold it above your head. If you don't feel wind, moving air, and from that, conclude that there is no air, that would be the equivalent of what they did. The divine matrix was then called the Ether. Their equipment, two times (1881 and 1887) detected no movement. They were looking for the Ether wind. They concluded that it didn't exist.

Up until the late 20th Century, Gregg Braden explains, we have been operating on the belief that everything is separate from everything else. Now we find, in the Quantum world, that the divine matrix exists. This same Michaelson-Morley experiment was repeated in 1986, by EW Silvertooth for the US Air Force. He had better equipment and found that the Divine Matrix exists and it acted just the way that Michaelson-Morley thought that it would. It was published in Nature.

Does this allow us to have intuition and telepathy? Yes, Gregg Braden answers, and remote viewing as well. This divine matrix is the conduit that carries our conscious awareness out from our physical bodies. There is a quality of human emotion, a shift in perception, that impacts the stuff in this divine matrix to conform to what we have in our hearts.

Do you think if you concentrate on this matrix, you can go into it?

It is not possible to exit from it. Every cell in our bodies is already submerged in this matrix. Gregg Braden explains that it would be impossible to hold our bodies together without it. If we are conscious, we are always interacting. We create through the power of human emotion.

The ancient cultures didn't need 4000 years to prove the existence of the divine matrix

Gregg Braden explains that we got the Reader's Digest condensed version of the Bible. "Ask and ye shall receive." What Jesus actually says is "Be surrounded or enveloped by your desire so that your joy can be full." -- Be this way as if these things have already happened.

It is an unbiased matrix, Gregg Braden reiterates, that mirrors back to us what we create in our lives. Our thoughts imagine what we would like. Our hearts breathe life into this when powered by our feelings. This has been discouraged by males in our society. Could this be part of the reason the Nicean Council deleted these sections from the Bible?

The divine matrix is like a massive consciousness computer. The computer's language is human emotion, feeling and belief. When we expect something to happen, that emotion in our body sets something into play.... Nothing happens without emotion and no emotion is overlooked.

The Institute of Heart Math studied placental DNA looking for the answer to: "What effect does human emotion have on DNA?" They found the shape of our DNA changes with changes in our human emotions (love, compassion, hate, rage). Gregg Braden adds that the Divine Matrix is the conduit. "Feeling is the program that changes the consciousness computer." Gregg Braden adds that spontaneous healing and distant healing is possible because of the divine matrix....

The Global Coherence Initiative is one group that is working with this information. Gregg Braden's group "felt peace" and a blip registered on the Princeton graphs of the Global Consciousness Project. Hundreds of thousands of people were feeling peace. Crime decreased and the stock market soured.
Dec. 1988 Journal of Conflict Resolution documented the effects.

Relatively few people can have a profound effect on the world around them, not when we have them in our minds, and not when we pray for them, but when we have it in our feelings as if it already exists. We can have a better world.

The square root of 1% of the population is enough to effect change in that population. There are six billion people on the planet. We only need 8,000 for change. This is not something we do, but something we feel/be for our day to day existence.

Cooperation vs competition

Time and space don't exist in this substance. Gregg Braden tells the story that the US Army trained individuals in remote viewing. The Army used it to find the Scud missiles in Iraq during the first Bush administration. In Quantum experiments, they can change a particle in the present, and find that the particle is also changed in the past....

Our belief re-arranges the world we live in. Belief, with the emotion it engenders, is the language of the conscious computer-Universe. Literally, when we change the way we feel, we are changing and rearranging the stuff of the world around us. As with any computer, Gregg Braden says, if you know the code, you are not limited and can transcend the laws or apparent barriers of time, space and aging.

Rewriting the Reality Code: What is our reality?

Traditions have said that our reality is nothing more or less than what we claim in our feelings and emotions. Gregg Braden explains that we create in our hearts, our imaginations, the experiences we would like to have, and the mirror reflects this back to us.

This gives us almost superhuman powers, but how do we relay that to someone? Human feeling and human belief are the language of reality creation. As different as the various religious beliefs are today, if you trace them back to before there were religions, they were more similar in practices.
The self empowering books in the Bible were the ones taken out in the 4th century at the Nicean Council.

The power of human emotions to rearrange the atoms and to interrupt the flow of time and space, this was in the descriptions of the books taken out of our traditions, although this was never taken out of other traditions, such as Native American and those living in Peru and in the Andes.

In our Book of Genesis, there is one line on the creation of the human being. In the original, there were many pages; our souls were created separate from our bodies. The original body could not contain the light and power of the soul and had to be redesigned. The original intent was to share the wisdom.

The intent of the council was political. In the letters of some of the Bishops, they questioned this editing and deletion.

In the Gospel of Thomas, now in Egypt, Jesus is telling us about prayer. It is a language that communicates with this intelligence he calls the Father. If you want health or wealth, "be" surrounded and enveloped by these things so your feeling can be completed.

Our science is showing that when we have strong feelings, not only are there changes inside our bodies, but also there are changes outside our bodies. The world around us is primarily electrical and magnetic. In our bodies, the largest generator of electrical and magnetic divine matrix is the human heart. It has about 100 times the power of the brain to create an electrical field and over 5,000 times the power of the brain to create a magnetic field. Any standard physics text will tell you that changing either an electrical or magnetic field will change the atoms in that field.

The Language of the Heart is where the power is packed to change our future. In the Bible, when the disciples of Jesus were asking why their prayers were not always working, Jesus explained that when they were praying, they should act as if they had already received it and they will be given whatever they have asked for.

When you go back to the original Aramaic, you see that the deleted sentences are where they tell you "how" to do all these things.

The biggest stumbling block to belief is that people think that if these principles are true, why isn't everyone already doing it?

We may consciously believe this, but sometimes the unconscious beliefs aren't in agreement due to family teachings. We must feel the feelings of abundance and nurturing and safety. We must give thanks and gratitude for these things that we want and when we can do that, we can speak with conviction.

In the complete Jesus teachings from the Aramaic, Jesus said that he could not do the healings in his own village where he grew up and where they held him to the limitations he had as a child. It is necessary to believe, in order to be healed.

We live in a participatory reality. In the divine matrix, all things are possible and already exist in the divine matrix of possibilities. We only need to claim them, to breathe life into them through our feelings. The divine matrix recognizes the language of gratitude and appreciation as if we have already received what we choose.

Other cultures identify 3 separate related experiences that we have in our bodies:

Thought
Feeling
Emotion

The upper 3 Chakras are related to thought and logic. We can only invite it into our lives when we breathe the power of emotion by using the lower 3 creative Chakras. We then imbue the thought with life in the last Chakra, our heart. This creates the electro-magnetic waves that go out.

They say that we are either breathing the love of that thought, or the fear of that thought into it. This is our inner technology. This is the great secret that was taken out or edited out of our original bible. 20 books were taken out completely and another 25 were condensed or rearranged.

Without those texts, we tend to rely upon the written word to validate those feelings. People feel that
there is more to us, but we rely on written validation. The lost gospel of Thomas said, When these two become one, then when you say to the mountain, move, the mountain will move."

Conclusion:

Mike Dooley once said that we should pick the end result and give thanks and rejoice, because the Universe works backwards and will create the reality leading to that end.

We, at Mindbridge, didn't understand him at the time. We made a note and let it simmer. You might be having the same lack of connection to that statement, or you might be way ahead of us. But, where ever you are, hang on to that truth. Meditate on it. Incorporate it in your life. The world needs more master manifesters.

Let's think of it in another way. When there is something you choose for your life. Picture it, put yourself in the picture and feel the feelings of already having it. Enjoy your success. Share the happiness, and then let it go. The Universe will work from that "reality" back to the present to create in your life what it is you manifested. This is the Law of Attraction.

Have no doubt. Act on inspiration. This is your life. As Bob Proctor says, it was meant to be phenomenal, and so it is. First, you have to find the phenomenal feelings, the right vibrations, and then you will have it all.

British hacker's suicide fears may beat extradition to the US

Hopes were raised that British computer hacker Gary McKinnon may win his ten-year legal battle against extradition to the US after a Home Office medical report warns he may commit suicide if tried stateside.

British Home Secretary Theresa May is expected to announce her decision to Parliament on Tuesday.

McKinnon’s family has been shown the new medical report, and is delighted by the news.

“Although it’s saying bad things about Gary’s health, its very good news. For them to come out and say Gary not even might or could but will take his own life if it proceeds, and they can give no reassurances, I would have thought it would be very difficult for the government to go ahead,” Janis Sharp, McKinnon’s mother, told The Guardian.

The study by professors Declan Murphy and Tom Fahy spells out the risks the British government would face if it went ahead with the extradition.

The same experts in July concluded that McKinnon’s risk of suicide was “moderate.” Since then they have studied reports from three experts on Aspergers and suicide, who examined McKinnon earlier in the year.

The new report, dated September 24, reads: “It is clear that there is a significant risk of suicidal behavior and that Mr. McKinnon ‘will do’ what he has threatened for the last three to four years if the extradition proceeds. On this specific point, we cannot offer reassurance to the authorities who are dealing with the case.”

McKinnon was arrested in March 2002 for allegedly hacking into dozens of NASA and Pentagon computers over a 13-month period from his bedroom in North London. He has admitted the security breaches but said they were unintentional and that he was looking for evidence of UFOs. American officials insist that he caused thousands of dollars in damage and want to prosecute him on charges that could bring a jail sentence of up to 60 years.

The subsequent extradition fight, which has seen unsuccessful appeals at the House of Lords and the European Court of Human Rights, has centered on his mental health issues and the risk that he will kill himself if extradited.

His mother, who has campaigned tirelessly against the extradition, secured guarantees from the Liberal Democrats when they were in opposition, and David Cameron has raised the issue twice with US President Barack Obama.

But there has been a delay since Britain's new government took power in May 2010.

“Before the coalition got in, Nick Clegg stood by my side outside the Home Office to support me, and David Cameron spoke up for Gary and said he should be tried here. When they won the election we wept as thought Gary was home and dry. Then nothing happened,” Sharp explained.

A Home Office spokesman said “This is a complex case, in a complex area of the law, and a large amount of material has been submitted, some of it relatively recently. The Home Secretary needs to consider all the material carefully before making a decision.”

May’s decision was due to be announced in July but was delayed until October because of the Olympics.

The effect of the ten-year wait has taken a heavy toll on McKinnon and his family.

“I’ve gone through all our money. Gary hasn’t got an outlet. He can’t go online. He’s a really good musician but he hasn’t touched an instrument for years because he can’t deal with what I would bring up. So he sits in the dark with his cats. He’s lost 10 years of his life,” Sharp said.

Project Camelot Interviews Gary McKinnon

http://projectcamelot.org/gary_mckinnon.html

"I [Kerry Cassidy] caught up with Gary McKinnon in North London on my way back from safari in Kenya. The interview was shot using a hand-held camcorder and uploaded at 4 am UK time, making use of a wireless connection outside of an office building in downtown Birmingham. This is what is known as guerilla filmmaking...

We sat in the back of his local pub, in a garden in the late afternoon. Gary is lucid, eloquent and extremely intelligent. He made it clear that the real reason the Americans want to extradite him is not for any damage he has done, for in fact there wasn't any. They are pursuing him is because of what he might have seen. Specifically, documents revealing a list of "Non-terrestrial officers" and off-world cargo operations somewhere out in space, hinting at the real possibility of military activities taking place in relation to other planets.

Such a possibility has got to be mind-blowing to the average person who barely grasps that there might actually be aliens from other worlds interacting with earth and governments in the vicinity of our solar system. Key to the whole extradition matter is the issue that there were NO passwords required in order to access this material... and that a relatively unprofessional hacker, self-taught albeit brilliant, would be able, using a dial-up modem, to gain top secret access to NASA files and places as sacrosanct as the Pentagon."

We Are On The Threshold Of The Golden Age – Santos Bonacci

• There's a good book, it's only a small book, it's like a brochure but it's a classic. It's one of the great classics that come from the East by a great man named Sri Yukteswar called 'The Holy Science'.

• In there he explains that our Sun is part of a binary, it revolves around another star called Sirius, and it takes 24,000 years. (The figure that Santos Bonacci uses in his presentations)

• In the west, in Egypt, in Babylon, they came up with a longer figure, their figure was 25,920 years but (according to Santos) when corrected the processional cycle is 24,000 years. And as we revolve around our binary star Sirius, the Sun is getting closer.

• At this cycle in history, Sirius is traveling at 20 miles per second toward the direction of our Sun. When our stars are close together in this binary, we are in the Golden Age. When they are far away, we are in the iron age, and that is what Sri Yukteswar explains.

• What's happening in 2012 is that the Sun will take us through the sign of aquarius, which happens to line up with the energy of the photon belt (the light of sion, the dragons breath) and it brings in a short Golden Age, about 2,000 years.

• We are about to enter that period, we are at the threshold of a Golden Age.

According to Santos Bonacci’s studies into astrotheology, based on the writing of Sri Yukteswar, we are on the threshold of the Golden Age.

Principle of astrology proven to be scientific: planetary position imprints biological clocks of mammals

Zodiac mosaic from a 7th century synagogue

The mere utterance of the word "astrology" makes the self-described "scientific rationalist" cringe, it causes many of those steeped in many mainstream religious traditions to run the other way in fear of being caught up in devilish deception. But what if this practice had more to it than the daily tabloid reading sitting on shelves in the supermarket checkout line? What if there was a much more ancient and time-tested element to it? Here's an article I found from back in December, 2010 that I feel deserves mention:

Saturday, December 11, 2010
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger
Editor of NaturalNews.com

Mention the word "astrology" and skeptics go into an epileptic fit. The idea that someone's personality could be imprinted at birth according to the position of the sun, moon and planets has long been derided as "quackery" by the so-called "scientific" community which resists any notion based on holistic connections between individuals and the cosmos.

According to the conventional view, your genes and your parenting determine your personality, and the position of planet Earth at the time of your birth has nothing to do with it.

Then again, conventional scientists don't believe the position of the moon has anything to do with life on Earth, either. They dismiss the wisdom that farmers have known for ages -- that planting seeds or transplanting living plants in harmony with the moon cycles results in higher crop yields. Even the seeds inside humans are strongly influenced by the moon, as menstruation cycles and moon cycles are closely synchronized (28 days, roughly).

Researchers demonstrate scientific principle of astrology

Skeptics must be further bewildered by the new research published in Nature Neuroscience and conducted at Vanderbilt University which unintentionally provides scientific support for the fundamental principle of astrology -- namely, that the position of the planets at your time of birth influences your personality.

In this study, not only did the birth month impact personality; it also resulted in measurable functional changes in the brain.

This study, conducted on mice, showed that mice born in the winter showed a "consistent slowing" of their daytime activity. They were also more susceptible to symptoms that we might call "Seasonal Affective Disorder."

The study was carried out by Professor of Biological Sciences Douglas McMahon, graduate student Chris Ciarleglio, post-doctoral fellow Karen Gamble and two additional undergraduate students, none of whom believe in astrology, apparently. They do, of course, believe in science, which is why all their study findings have been draped in the language of science even though the findings are essentially supporting principles of astrology.

"What is particularly striking about our results is the fact that the imprinting affects both the animal's behavior and the cycling of the neurons in the master biological clock in their brains," said Ciarleglio. This is one of the core principles of astrology: That the position of the planets at the time of your birth (which might be called the "season" of your birth) can actually result in changes in your brain physiology which impact lifelong behavior.

Once again, such an idea sounds preposterous to the scientifically trained, unless of course they discover it for themselves, at which point it's all suddenly very "scientific." Instead of calling it "astrology," they're now referring to it as "seasonal biology."

How to discredit real science

It all reminds me of the discovery of cold fusion in 1989 by Fleishmann and Pons, who were widely ridiculed by the arrogant hot fusion researchers who tried to destroy the credibility (and careers) of cold fusion researchers (http://www.naturalnews.com/025925_cold_fusion_Amazon_research.html). After the very idea of "cold fusion" was attacked and demolished by these arrogant scientists, it soon returned under a new name: Low-Energy Nuclear Reactions (LENR).

LENR has now been verified as true by none other than the U.S. Navy -- along with hundreds of other researchers around the world (see link above). And yet, even today, the conventional scientific community still insists cold fusion doesn't exist and cold fusion researchers are frauds.

Just as there is a solid scientific basis for LENR, there is a scientific basis for astrology, too. The relationship between the Earth, Moon and Sun naturally alter light exposure, temperature, gravitational pull and other conditions that may be sensed by living organisms. To believe in astrology, all that's really required is to grasp the basic concepts of the interrelationships between all living things. Does the position of the sun or moon influence life on Earth? Of course it does: Life as we know it wouldn't even exist without the moon tugging on Earth and preventing its rotational axis from shifting around to the point where radical changes in seasonal temperatures would make life far more challenging. (The moon, in other words, is one of the key "stabilizers" of life on planet Earth because it tends to stabilize the seasons and keep the Earth on a steady rotational plane.)

None of this, of course, means that the position of Saturn today is going to make you win the lottery or find a new love. That's the tabloid version of astrology, not real astrology.

Don't confuse tabloid astrology with real astrology

Even astronomy has its tabloid versions, too, which are entirely non-scientific. For example, every model of our solar system that I've ever seen is a wildly inaccurate tabloid version of reality, with planet sizes ridiculously exaggerated and planet distances not depicted to scale. These silly, non-scientific solar system models imprint a kind of solar system mythology into the minds of schoolchildren and even school teachers. Virtually no one outside the communities of astrophysics and astronomy has any real grasp of the enormity of not merely our solar system, but of our galaxy and the space between neighboring galaxies.

To show a giant sun the size of a basketball, with a depiction of the Earth as a marble-sized planet three inches away is the astronomical equivalent of a gimmicky horoscope claiming you're going to win the lottery today because you were born under the sign of Pisces. Both are fictions. And both are an insult to real science.

In fact, even the whole idea that an "electron" is a piece of physical matter, made up of other "particles" is an insult to real science. The sobering truth of the matter is that "particle physics" doesn't have much to do with actual particles at all. It's all about energies that might, on occasion, vibrate in just the right way so that they momentarily appear to take on the illusion of a particle as measured by our observers -- observers who inevitably alter the outcome of the entire experiment, by the way, once again proving the interrelated nature of things in our universe, including observer and experiment.

The horoscope predictions in the Sunday paper -- as well as much of the hilarious mythology found in the modern description of an atom -- are both simplified, comic-book versions of a larger truth -- the truth that we live in a holistic universe where every bit of physical matter, every bit of energy and every conscious mind impacts the rest of the universe in subtle ways. There is no such thing as an individual who is isolated from the cosmos, because we are of the cosmos and we exist as the physical manifestations of energies that, for our lifetimes, are momentarily organized as beings.

We are made of star stuff, says Carl Sagan. He he's right: We are not only made of star stuff, we are influenced by that stuff, too. And finally, modern science is beginning to catch up to this greater truth that astrologers have known since the dawn of human existence on our tiny planet.

If that article piqued your interest, check this out, according to astrology, October is shaping up to be a big month for change!

"Exponential change. October blasts the status quo to smithereens. Say your final good-bye's to stalemate and indecision. People build on commitments made in September and branch out in a thousand new directions, based on those decisions. Inner changes burgeon into burgeoning outer changes.

Pluto and the North Node both hammer the 8th house. The military, high finance, political and economic power, insurance and pension issues, reproductive sexuality, human intimacy, personal boundary issues - a lengthy laundry list of vital issues come up for final negotiation on the macro and micro levels. The next year or two brings high stakes, high tension, hard fought efforts to achieve a new consensus on a host of issues of vital importance to everyone.

Saturn puts a damper on extremists and fringe types. A degree of sanity and probity will be restored to public discourse.

A more polished, written version of this analysis, with some illustrations, will be available on my blog on or about October 1."

Minority Rules: Scientists Discover Tipping Point for the Spread of Ideas

ScienceDaily (July 26, 2011) — Scientists at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute have found that when just 10 percent of the population holds an unshakable belief, their belief will always be adopted by the majority of the society. The scientists, who are members of the Social Cognitive Networks Academic Research Center (SCNARC) at Rensselaer, used computational and analytical methods to discover the tipping point where a minority belief becomes the majority opinion. The finding has implications for the study and influence of societal interactions ranging from the spread of innovations to the movement of political ideals.

In this visualization, we see the tipping point where minority opinion (shown in red) quickly becomes majority opinion. Over time, the minority opinion grows. Once the minority opinion reached 10 percent of the population, the network quickly changes as the minority opinion takes over the original majority opinion (shown in green). (Credit: SCNARC/Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute)
"When the number of committed opinion holders is below 10 percent, there is no visible progress in the spread of ideas. It would literally take the amount of time comparable to the age of the universe for this size group to reach the majority," said SCNARC Director Boleslaw Szymanski, the Claire and Roland Schmitt Distinguished Professor at Rensselaer. "Once that number grows above 10 percent, the idea spreads like flame."

As an example, the ongoing events in Tunisia and Egypt appear to exhibit a similar process, according to Szymanski. "In those countries, dictators who were in power for decades were suddenly overthrown in just a few weeks."

The findings were published in the July 22, 2011, early online edition of the journal Physical Review E in an article titled "Social consensus through the influence of committed minorities."

An important aspect of the finding is that the percent of committed opinion holders required to shift majority opinion does not change significantly regardless of the type of network in which the opinion holders are working. In other words, the percentage of committed opinion holders required to influence a society remains at approximately 10 percent, regardless of how or where that opinion starts and spreads in the society.

To reach their conclusion, the scientists developed computer models of various types of social networks. One of the networks had each person connect to every other person in the network. The second model included certain individuals who were connected to a large number of people, making them opinion hubs or leaders. The final model gave every person in the model roughly the same number of connections. The initial state of each of the models was a sea of traditional-view holders. Each of these individuals held a view, but were also, importantly, open minded to other views.

Once the networks were built, the scientists then "sprinkled" in some true believers throughout each of the networks. These people were completely set in their views and unflappable in modifying those beliefs. As those true believers began to converse with those who held the traditional belief system, the tides gradually and then very abruptly began to shift.

"In general, people do not like to have an unpopular opinion and are always seeking to try locally to come to consensus. We set up this dynamic in each of our models," said SCNARC Research Associate and corresponding paper author Sameet Sreenivasan. To accomplish this, each of the individuals in the models "talked" to each other about their opinion. If the listener held the same opinions as the speaker, it reinforced the listener's belief. If the opinion was different, the listener considered it and moved on to talk to another person. If that person also held this new belief, the listener then adopted that belief.

"As agents of change start to convince more and more people, the situation begins to change," Sreenivasan said. "People begin to question their own views at first and then completely adopt the new view to spread it even further. If the true believers just influenced their neighbors, that wouldn't change anything within the larger system, as we saw with percentages less than 10."

The research has broad implications for understanding how opinion spreads. "There are clearly situations in which it helps to know how to efficiently spread some opinion or how to suppress a developing opinion," said Associate Professor of Physics and co-author of the paper Gyorgy Korniss. "Some examples might be the need to quickly convince a town to move before a hurricane or spread new information on the prevention of disease in a rural village."

The researchers are now looking for partners within the social sciences and other fields to compare their computational models to historical examples. They are also looking to study how the percentage might change when input into a model where the society is polarized. Instead of simply holding one traditional view, the society would instead hold two opposing viewpoints. An example of this polarization would be Democrat versus Republican.

The research was funded by the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) through SCNARC, part of the Network Science Collaborative Technology Alliance (NS-CTA), the Army Research Office (ARO), and the Office of Naval Research (ONR).

The research is part of a much larger body of work taking place under SCNARC at Rensselaer. The center joins researchers from a broad spectrum of fields -- including sociology, physics, computer science, and engineering -- in exploring social cognitive networks.

The center studies the fundamentals of network structures and how those structures are altered by technology. The goal of the center is to develop a deeper understanding of networks and a firm scientific basis for the newly arising field of network science.

More information on the launch of SCNARC can be found at http://news.rpi.edu/update.do?artcenterkey=2721&setappvar=page(1)

Szymanski, Sreenivasan, and Korniss were joined in the research by Professor of Mathematics Chjan Lim, and graduate students Jierui Xie (first author) and Weituo Zhang.
