The incredible images of Unidentified Flying Objects in the Arctic originated from the USS Trepang, SSN 674 in March, 1971. The following case was made available thanks to John Greenewald from “The Black Vault” who in turn received the incredible images from researcher Alex Mistretta.
The photos here displayed are evidence of a “close encounter” between forces of the United States Navy and Unidentified Flying Objects on the “edge” of the Arctic Ocean in March, 1971.
These images were supposedly taken in March, 1971 from a United States Submarine, the USS Trepang (SSN-674), a Sturgeon-class attack submarine.
The official location where the sighting occurred was between Iceland and Jan Mayen island in the Atlantic Ocean. (Jan Mayen belongs to Norway, and is only inhabited by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute and the Norwegian military.)
The UFO sighting occurred by accident as the military was in the region on a routine joint military and “scientific” expedition. According to reports, the officer who initially spotted the Unidentified Flying Object was John Kilika using the periscope.
So after looking at the images what are your thoughts? When I first looked at the images I was shocked. I have seen thousands of images of alleged UFOs throughout the years, while some of them cannot be explained in any way, some others are certainly fabricated images.
The images made available by Alex Mistretta have certainly puzzled me and seem authentic. Yet, they seem to resemble the movie “Battleship” at the moment the giant alien ships which were submerged under the ocean, come out underneath the ocean and confront the military.
The USS Trepang sighting will surely become one of the best recorded UFO sightings in history. Let us know what you think about these images, do you think they are really depicting extraterrestrial vehicles? Or is it possible that another explanation, more “human” can be attributed?
According to a UCLA engineering alumnus, in 1993 a fellow alumnus, who happened to run one of the most advanced and secretive aircraft development organizations in the world, says the key to the technology that will allow us to travel to the stars, without taking a lifetime to get there, lies in ESP.
Ben Rich was the director of Lockheed’s Skunk Works from 1975 to 1991. Skunk Works is a division of Lockheed Martin that develops super high-tech aircraft, and is responsible for developing the U-2, the SR-71 Blackbird, the F-117 Nighthawk stealth bomber, and the F-22 Raptor.
In a recent interview with Open Minds, Jan Harzan, the new director of the Mutual UFO Network, told us about a presentation by Rich he attended in which he feels Rich shared some amazing insight. Like Rich, Harzan received an engineering degree from UCLA. In 1993, Harzan received an invitation from the alumni association to attend a talk by Rich at the alumni center.
Harzan attended the lecture with his friend Tom Keller, who is also an engineering alumnus of UCLA and shares Harzan’s interest in UFOs. Keller wrote a book on the topic titled, The Total Novice’s Guide to UFOs, which was published in 2010. Harzan estimates there were about 200 engineers in attendance.
Rich’s presentation consisted of a slide presentation outlining his 40 years with Skunk Works. The last aircraft he discussed was the F-117 which was developed in the early 80s, but was not revealed to the public until the late 80s. Rich alluded to more advanced technologies which have been developed since the F-117 but still remain secret.

Harzan says, “He intimated that there was a lot of other stuff going on that he could not talk about.” It was here that Harzan says things began to get really interesting. Harzan told us, “He ended his talk with a black disk zipping out into outer space, and he ended it with these words: ‘We now have the technology to take ET home.’”
Harzan says after this statement the crowd laughed, but he and Keller were shocked. He says, “Tom and I just looked at each other, ‘Did he really just say that, and are these people really not getting that what he is saying is real?’”
After the lecture, Harzan says 20 or so engineers gathered up around Rich to ask more questions. One lady asked about the technology to take ET home, but Rich sort of ignored the question. However, after being pressed by a couple of the other attendees, Rich asked one of the engineers if they thought it was possible to travel to the stars.
The engineer replied, “I don’t know, it would just take a long time to get there.” To which Rich responded that it would not. He told the group, “We found an error in the equations and we now know how to travel to the stars, and it won’t take us a lifetime to do it.”
Harzan says Rich did not say what equations he was referring to, but Harzan assumes they are what are known as Maxwell’s equations. However, he admits that this is just a guess.
Finally, Rich excused himself and began walking towards the door. Harzan called to Rich to ask him one last question. He told Rich, “I have a real interest in the propulsion you are talking about that gets us to the stars. Can you tell me how it works?”
Harzan says Rich stopped and looked at him, then asked Harzan if he knew how ESP worked. Jan says he was taken aback by the question and responded, “I don’t know, all points in space and time are connected?” Rich replied, “That’s how it works.” Then he turned around and walked away.
Harzan doesn’t know if he gave the answer Rich was looking for, or if Rich was simply referring to ESP as being the key to how the technology works, but he does believe there is something to Rich’s response.
Harzan says he feels he left the presentation with three very important clues, “One, we have the technology to take ET home. Two is there is an error in the equations… Finally, the way ESP works is the same way that this technology works. So there you have it. All that is left up to us is to go figure it out.”
Most people ‘in the know’ realize that NASA is just part of the military industrial complex, but a recent open admission on mainstream news that “there are indications of alien life” is likely the beginning of a bid to get your undivided attention before full-forced disclosure ensues.
Most people already believe what NASA Chief Scientist Ellen Stofan states:
“I think we’re going to have strong indications of life beyond Earth within a decade . . .I think we’re going to have definitive evidence within 20-30 years.”
It isn’t going to take that long if we open our eyes.
Stofan goes on to say:
“We’re on the verge of things that people have wondered about for millennia. Within all of our lifetimes we’re going to understand that there is life on other bodies in the solar system. We’re going to understand the implications of that for life here on Earth.”
What we’re going to understand is that our ‘secret’ government has been hiding this fact for ages. In an effort to transition the US and other countries through its reach to a cabal-run oligarchy, our shadow government has been lying about off-planet corporate slavery rings, alien abductions, benevolent beings who can only do so much until our collective consciousness elevates, and much, much more.
William Cooper, among others, tried to disclose the true purpose of NASA, but he was exterminated. His death, among thousands of others, will not be in vain.
We will learn that aside from extraterrestrial beings visiting our planet and many different ET races tinkering with our DNA over millenia, there are ancient humanoid races that are more than 10 million years old.
We will learn that a recent computer hacking retrieved millions of government and corporate personnel records, some say as part of documentation for Nuremburg-like trials, will begin soon against those who have mind-controlled, enslaved and tortured us. Undeniable photos of UFOs were also unearthed.
We will also learn that chemtrails and GMOs were the LEAST of plans made for us ‘sheeple’ and ‘useless eaters’ by a Luciferian cabal, and that President Harry Truman signed a document with certain ETs that allowed the ‘elite’ to conduct highly technological experiments with intelligence gained from these ETs in exchange for looking the other way when certain humans were abducted for ET experiments.
We will learn that we are not helpless, as we have been programmed to believe. We are, in fact, a rare humanoid race that has an incredible range of emotion and creative power. We will learn that our minds and emotions can either fuel chaos on this planet, or restore it to its rightful place of peace and cooperation, of care for others at least as much as ourselves.
We will learn that our ascension into infinitely peaceful beings is indeed possible, and it has been described in countless books, many of which have been suppressed along with UFO information.
NASA is telling us now that the likelihood of alien life is a ruse. Be sure to remember those who have been executed to try to prove this information to us decades ago, and to use discernment when the truth is finally revealed.
By Ian Paxton Almost 70 years ago, an FBI special agent wrote a report about the presence of beings from another dimension here on Earth. The agent—a lieutenant colonel—labeled the report as “a memorandum of importance” and addressed it to “certain scientists of distinction to important aeronautical and military authorities, to a number of public officials and to a few publications.” This particular report was kept secret until 2011, when the FBI declassified a series of documents and posted them on their FOIA library, The Vault. Although nearly seven decades have passed since it was written, the issues it dealt with are of even greater relevance today.
The anonymous FBI agent expressed his concern with regard to the flying saucer phenomenon; he acknowledged the fact that the UFOs were examples of technology far superior to that of our own and believed that any attempt to attack one would result in deadly retaliation.
In his opinion such an event would undoubtedly have lead to public panic and “international suspicion.”
Here’s a transcript of some of the most important details in the report:
Part of the disks carry crews, others are under remote control.
Their mission is peaceful. The visitors contemplate settling on this plane.
The visitors are human-like but much larger in size.
They are not excarnate Earth people, but come from their own world.
They do NOT come from a “planet” as we use the word, but from an etheric planet which interpenetrates with our own and is not perceptible to us.
The bodies of the visitors, and the craft, automatically materialize on entering the vibratory rate of our dense matter.
The disks posses a type of radiant energy or ray, which will easily disintegrate any attacking ship. They reenter the etheric at will, and so simply disappear from our vision, without a trace.
The region from which they come is not the “astral plane”, but corresponds to the Lokas or Talas*. Students of esoteric matters will understand these terms.
They probably can not be reached by radio, but probably can be by radar, if a signal system can be devised for that.
* Loka and tala are Sanskrit terms first used in the metaphysical systems of ancient India. Loosely put, loka means “place” or “world” while tala means “inferior world.” Every loka is linked to its corresponding tala and can never be separated.
It’s quite interesting to notice that the FBI would quote such esoteric matters in their official papers. Perhaps these metaphysical concepts are closer to reality than previously thought.
The information contained in this report seems to validate the Interdimensional Hypothesis, a theory that proposes an alternative explanation for the UFO phenomenon.
It was based on the ideas of ufologists such as Jacques Valée, who suggested that UFOs are indeed extraterrestrial in nature, but do not come from this reality.
Instead of mastering interstellar travel and visiting us from distant parts of our universe, the UFOs could be caused by the materialization of visitors from alternate realities or dimensions that coexist independently to our own.
This hypothesis is supported by the strange behavior UFOs exhibit, such as the ability to rapidly materialize/dematerialize.
In the words of UFO researcher John Weldon, “the UFO phenomenon simply does not behave like extraterrestrial visitors.”

Mysterious footage said to depict three UFOs racing by Planet Earth is causing an out-of-this-world discussion on YouTube, as some people think it’s proof-positive of alien life.
The 4-minute long video titled “UFO Mysteries: UFOs, Angels Or Biological Creatures Seen Leaving The Earth?” was uploaded a week ago and has more than 214,000 views.
The video, reportedly shot from the International Space Station, shows three unidentified flying objects shooting upward out of Earth’s atmosphere.
Just when the lights appear to blast off the planet, the video feed is cut by NASA, with a message subsequently displayed on screen stating: “Please stand by. The High Definition Earth Viewing experiment is either switching cameras, or we are experiencing a s temporary loss of signal with the International Space Station.”

Close to 200 people have commented on what they think the video is actually showing, including the usual, classic responses such as swamp gas or a weather balloon.
Commenter Michael Clottey is among the viewers saying it’s proof of alien life.
“BINGO! Caught them red-handed leaving Earth’s orbit,” he wrote. “That’s the kind of proof that is needed. Excellent footage, absolutely Fantastic. One for the books. Let the debunkers try and say it’s space trash. I don’t think there is anything they can say about this footage apart from just saying it is fake and just CGI [computer-generated images] hahaha. Wow amazing stuff. This must go viral.”
Kyle Quinn noted: “I just adore how they cut the feed off, they make it so obvious they know what’s going on too.”
Joe Berry, however, was far more skeptical, saying: “Wow objects coming from our OWN planet, must be extraterrestrial.”
Other comments include:
“Seen one of these above my house in the sky. At first it appeared as a yellow orb and solid, moving slowly. But when it took off looking through binoculars it had the exact same flutter effect and did not look as a solid anymore.”
“Canadian geese caught in an unfortunate updraft. You hear about their frozen bodies falling to Earth about three days later.”
“NASA, Never A Straight Answer!”
NASA has not provided any explanation for the curious lights.
Britain’s Sunday Express noted, “Of course, its possible the YouTube video has been doctored, or the unexplained objects are simply a trick of the light.”
The paper says, “Critics claim the alleged UFO sightings on the live feed are simply down to NASA’s poor camera and this latest sighting is likely to be a distorted view of the moon.”
The International Business Times reports, “This is not the first time conspiracy theorists claim NASA has inadvertently captured extraterrestrial activity. Earlier in January this year, UFO hunter Toby Lundh spotted what he claimed was an UFO just outside the space station as he was monitoring the live feed on his laptop.
“Lundh added that there are ‘always some UFOs showing up’ and ‘NASA always cuts the feed when a UFO gets close to the station.’”
A UFO soaring over the Bronx in New York City was seen by dozens of New Yorkers on Saturday, leading to multiple 911 calls from panicked and freaked-out residents, alarmed by what one caller described as a “fireball” in the sky and another called a “flying spaceship.” But what was the object, really? So far, no one has been able to explain it.
Even more odd, when a New York Times reporter called the police to ask what was going on, he apparently ran straight into a stone wall. The police, apparently, refused to discuss the UFO sighting reports.

But while the Times passed on publishing a story about the UFO, the New York Post had no such compunctions, even dispatching reporters to the Bronx to interview residents who saw the UFO in the early evening hours in the skies above the United States’ most populous city.
“I look up and see this fireball, ‘Whoosh!’ and then another, ‘Whoosh!’ ” said Jose Marrero, 57, who told the Post that he was on his roof tending to his pet pigeons when he witnesses the bizarre object overhead. “From one side of the sky to the other, too fast for an airplane.”
Another New Yorker, 25-year-old Andres Morales, took a photo that shows the alleged object, visible in the upper left hand region of the photo.
“I stuck my hand out the car window and snapped like crazy,” Morales told the tabloid. “I don’t know what it was but it was moving crazy fast.”

The UFO sighting over New York City comes just a week after a UFO was reported hovering over a hotel in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
There have been numerous UFO sightings in New York City over the years, however. Perhaps the most famous occurred in 1974 — famous not as much for what the object may or may not have been, but for who saw it.
The sighting was reported by former Beatle John Lennon, who had relocated permanently from England to New York City in the early 1970s.
Lennon even immortalized his sighting in his 1980 song “Nobody Told Me,” in which the legendary rock star proclaims that he “ain’t too surprised” to have seen a UFO over New York City.
As for this latest UFO sighting in New York City, one self-described “UFO journalist,” Ryan Sprague, told the Post that while he is convinced “we’re dealing with anomalies that could potentially be nonhuman,” the Saturday UFO sighting occurred near New York’s La Guardia Airport, and the proximity could lead to “misidentifications.”
Back in the day, it kind of made sense that there weren't a lot of photos of UFOs, because people didn't have cameras at their disposal all the time. But now? Not so much. Not only do we have cameras on our phones, but we can also share our evidence instantly with millions through Twitter and Facebook.
So when a strange assortment of lights appeared in the sky around Houston in August of last year, people immediately got out their phones to share the experience. UFO or not, this evidence proves something was up that night.
A guy named Andrew Pena shot this video while trying to capture a local storm and saw something even more shocking instead.
Andrew wasn't the only one who saw an unidentified craft on the expressway that night. These photos were posted on Twitter by another Houstonian just minutes after Andrew's video was captured.
I'm sure some people will find more than one logical (i.e., non-extraterrestrial) explanation for all this, and maybe these images aren't evidence of an alien invasion at all. The neat thing about the times we live in, though, is that whenever Earth experiences a close encounter of the third kind, there will be hundreds if not thousands of people around to document it from every angle. Hey, even selfies could help us fight against an alien invasion.
Historic Apollo 15 video footage shows a saucer shaped UFO hovering over a crater apparently observing two moon walking astronauts. The Apollo 15 video was uploaded to YouTube on April 5, and raised the possibility that it is an advanced spacecraft monitoring the Apollo mission.
Whistleblower and astronaut testimonies have revealed the Apollo 11 mission was monitored by two spacecraft hovering over a crater, allegedly giving a warning to NASA. The spacecraft may have been extraterrestrial in origin. Another more intriguing possibility is that the Apollo 15 UFO belonged to a highly classified space program, again warning Apollo astronauts and NASA from future moon missions.
In the video, astronauts Jim Irwin and David Scott are on the moon’s surface. Scott is heard giving commentary as he films Irwin and the surrounding terrain. Scott sweeps through an area showing a white floating saucer shaped object apparently hovering over a crater’s rim. His first comment when seeing the object is to say “whoops” and to then pan away. Scott focuses the camera on the ground which is curious given the strange hovering object near a crater. His “whoops” comment and immediate panning away suggests that he is deliberately trying not to focus in on UFO. Nevertheless, the camera sweeps past the object several times without stopping or focusing on it. This leaves the viewer wondering why he ignored the strange white object.
Scott’s behavior raises the possibility that he was under orders to ignore the UFO and instead film more innocuous features of the moonscape. Was his curious filming behavior a result of some warning NASA had received concerning the Apollo program?

A possible answer emerges from events associated with the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing. After the arrival of the Apollo 11 lunar module on the moon’s surface, there was an alleged radio transmission from Neil Armstrong during a mysterious two minutes of radio silence. In the transmission, Armstrong said that there were giant UFOs hovering over the horizon watching the moonwalking astronauts.
According to Timothy Good, author of Above Top Secret (1988) HAM radio operators receiving VHF signals transmitted from Apollo 11 to NASA’s Houston headquarters, intercepted the following message which NASA screened from the public:
Mission Control:
What’s there? Mission Control calling Apollo 11.
Apollo 11:
These babies are huge, sir … enormous….Oh, God, you wouldn’t believe it! I’m telling you there are other space craft out there… lined up on the far side of the crater edge… they’re on the moon watching us. (Above Top Secret, p. 384.)
Maurice Chatelain, a retired NASA communications engineer who helped develop the communications system used in the Apollo moon missions, said in 1979 that Armstrong’s sighting of two UFOs over a lunar crater was being deliberately kept from the media and public by NASA: “The encounter was common knowledge in NASA, but nobody has talked about it until now.” According to Timothy Good, Dr Vladimir Azhazha, a physicist and Professor of Mathematics at Moscow University at the time, also was aware of the secret Armstrong radio transmission:
Neil Armstrong relayed the message to Mission Control that two large, mysterious objects were watching them after having landed near the moon module. But his message was never head by the public – because NASA censored it. (Above Top Secret, p. 384)
So why did NASA eventually terminate the Apollo program if advanced spacecraft were already there and watching the landings? The answer according to Armstrong, as relayed by an unnamed Professor at a NASA symposium, is as follows:
Professor: What really happened out there with Apollo 11?
Armstrong: It was incredible … of course, we had always known there was a possibility … the fact is, we were warned off. There was never any questions then of a space station or a moon city.
Professor: How do you mean “warned off”?
Armstrong: I can’t go into details, except to say that their ships were far superior to ours both in size and technology – Boy, where they big! … and menacing …. No, there is no question of a space station.
Professor: But NASA had other missions after Apollo 11?
Armstrong: Naturally – NASA was committed at that time, and couldn’t risk a panic on earth…. But it really was a quick scoop and back again. (Above Top Secret, p. 186)
If NASA was indeed warned off the moon, then subsequent missions such as Apollo 15 only went forward as a public relations exercise to avoid a “panic on earth” over the early termination of manned moon missions.
The saucer shaped UFO filmed by Apollo 15 may well be an advanced spacecraft there to monitor the Apollo mission, and to give a firm warning to NASA to put an end to the program. If so, was the UFO extraterrestrial in origin, or is there another more conventional explanation?
Recently, two whistleblowers have publicly emerged revealing the existence of secret space programs with bases on the moon. Randy Cramer and ‘Corey’ (aka GoodETxSG), both claim that they were first taken to a secret base on the moon in 1987 as 17 year olds where they separately began 20 year tours of duty with their respective space programs. They called the secret moon base, Lunar Operations Command, and claimed it is used by personnel belonging to secret space programs, and visiting extraterrestrial spacecraft. In an email, “Corey” claims that Lunar Operations Command began to be built in the late 1950’s over an abandoned moon base. If Corey’s and Randy’s testimonies are accurate, Lunar Operations Command was already in operation during the Apollo moon landings from 1969 to 1972.
According to Cramer, in early 2014 he received orders from his military superiors in a covert branch of the US Marine Corps to reveal the existence of secret space programs taking place on the Moon, Mars and elsewhere in our solar system. In Sept 2014, Corey publicly emerged claiming that he has been contacted by a relatively new group of extraterrestrial visitors that are facilitating public disclosure of secret space programs and visiting extraterrestrial life. Corey claims that one of the secret space programs, “Solar Warden,” is part of an alliance of secret space programs and visiting extraterrestrials to disclose the truth to the world public. Most startling is his claim that among this space alliance are members of between five to seven ancient human civilizations that have their own ongoing space programs.
The Apollo 15 video of a saucer shaped UFO on the moon may be hard evidence of an advanced spacecraft monitoring the moon landings. Scott’s strange filming behavior was likely due to orders he received as a result of a warning delivered to Apollo 11 astronauts.The craft associated with the Apollo 15 video and the original Apollo 11 radio transmission by Armstrong, may not have been extraterrestrial in origin, but instead belonged to a secret space program that did not want NASA to establish a permanent presence on the moon. As a primarily civilian agency, NASA’s presence threatened to expose the activities of one or more secret space programs and/or extraterrestrial civilizations on the moon. This is especially plausible if a facility such as Lunar Operations Command was already in operation.
NASA was warned against continuing the Apollo program in 1969, and astronauts from subsequent landings were told not to film anything that might reveal artificial structures on the moon or advanced spacecraft monitoring the final Apollo missions. One thing is clear from the Apollo 15 video, a UFO appears to be monitoring the moon walking astronauts – the key question is: “does the UFO belong to extraterrestrials, a highly classified space program, or an ancient human civilization?”
April 4, 2015 - A government whistleblower recently stated that officials are baffled as to why numerous extraterrestrial crafts have docked themselves on the opposite side of the moon.
Dr. Eric Norton, an outside consultant for the NSA and NASA for the past 12 years, was hired to track various object in space including meteors, comets, etc.. but recently has been following a number of unidentified aircrafts that were heading towards Earth.
On January 22, 2012, Dr. Norton was called to the MacDonald Observatory in Texas and saw “massive, three dimensional black structures in space, in straight line formation advancing in the direction of planet Earth. The object seemed to be emitting some sort of force field that deflected space particles from touching their surface, almost like the magnetic field around the earth. The objects were getting so close that, with our telescopes, we could see the structural features of these things in high detail. They were shaped as a three dimensional “L” shaped craft. By January 2013, the objects had been tracked to about 200,000 miles past the planet Mars. Once they reached this point, almost instantaneously, the object vanished from our telescope lenses as if they had activated some sort of invisibility shield at the flick of the switch. I knew that the upper echelons of government were worried about these things because I was under a constant 24/7 guard by Secret Service agents. For nearly the entire year of 2013, we watched the skies in disbelief. We didn’t know what was going on or where these things were. According to my calculations, these things would have been so close to us by now that we would have no problem seeing them in the night sky had they stayed visible to us. We didn’t know if they were still coming or had left the solar system.”
Dr. Norton was sent home and was awaiting additional order, if needed, but had not heard anything else about this situation for approximately 6 months. Upon all of the commotion around the government shutdown as well as the shutdown of numerous space monitoring programs, Dr. Norton finally made a call to a close friend who he worked with confidentially who told Norton that “the objects reappeared and had repositioned themselves behind the moon” in a circular type of alignment, which allowed them to dock to the backside of the moon in order to remain invisible to skywatchers.
Norton added that the blackout of all space monitoring programs was essential in “keeping the lid on what had happened.”
“We don’t know what they are, what they are doing or what they’re going to do. We do know that there have already been fluctuations in Earth’s gravity field and the gravity field which links the moon to the Earth.”
According to Dr. Norton, if this information were to be revealed to the masses, it would cause a breakdown of all religions as well as the “breakdown of society, itself”.
It is this writers opinion that our society is ready to acknowledge the existence of other forms of life other than what is already on our planet. The biggest fears would be from those who have kept us living as economic slaves for millennia through subservience, control and conformity as their illusion of their fiat currency falls apart. They will continue to grasp on to this illusion for as long as possible while keeping the rest of us in the proverbial dark until the last possible second in order to maintain their illusion of power.
If the extraterrestrials are changing the magnetic waves in the gravitational field of this planet, it could have implications on what that might do to our brains and more specifically, what we are capable of doing.
For example, a slight change in the magnetic field may affect the Schumann Resonance where the frequencies are more derived from pure love or as some may call it, “Christ Consciousness”. It may also open up our minds to their fullest collective capacity where we all have instantaneous abilities, such as telekinesis, ESP and other psychic or metaphysical abilities.
The Earth is currently undergoing a magnetic pole shift, which has not occurred in at least 700,000 years on this planet, so perhaps this visitation has something to do with that?
Many people believe that the moon is a large satellite, so the possibility remains that those who placed it here have returned.
While much of this is speculation, no one truly knows who they are or why they are on the moon. Only time will tell!

On March 13th, 1997 something extraordinary happened, an event that sparked an onslaught of books, documentaries, and more attempting to explain what exactly occurred on that day. The anomaly has been dubbed “The Phoenix Lights,” and it is one of the most famous UFO events of the 1990’s, and possibly one of the most famous UFO events to ever take place, given the fact that it was witnessed by thousands of people and caught on camera, where it was then made available to millions of people around the globe.

What Happened
One thing is for certain, something very important and inexplicable happened on this day, and such occurrences are not uncommon. These types of sightings have been recorded throughout human history. To the left is a broadsheet picture by Samuel Coccius that illustrates many flaming and “large black globes” that were reported to have appeared in the skies over Basel, Switzerland in 1586. This one is from the Wickiana Collection, Zurich Central Library, Switzerland. It’s one of many examples of art that depicts objects hovering in the sky and people pointing at them.

If the “Phoenix Lights” event had occurred hundreds of years ago, this illustration is the format in which it would have been captured.
So what happened in Phoenix on that day? It began with Luke Air Force Base, the media, the National UFO Reporting Center, the Governor’s office, and the police receiving a number of reports from people in Nevada of a very large craft hovering in the sky. Some people were reporting it as a boomerang formation of lights.
The object (or objects) began moving south towards Arizona where even more people would see it. Again, people were not reporting just lights hovering in the sky, they were reporting an actual solid object, a craft of some sort, spanning the size of one or two football fields. The witness reports detail lights, sometimes multiple lights, in a pattern that ranged from a few all the way up to a dozen, all in some sort of organized formation. Witnesses reported them as white and in some cases they were orange, red, or yellow. Reports indicate that at some point, the lights moved at very rapid speeds, while at others, they moved slowly and were also reported to hover. Some people described it as a huge, wedge-shaped craft with five lights on it. Some people claim that it passed directly over their heads and even hovered there for extended periods of time. People reported seeing, again, a large solid object, even going into detail about certain features they could spot on the craft.

Again, this object has been described as massive, the size of one to two football fields.
There were a number of these types of descriptions from people who witnessed the object.
These types of reports came in at a time where it was much easier to make out the object or objects that were in the sky, as there was still some daylight. It was not until later that evening at approximately 10 pm when people in Arizona witnessed something truly spectacular. As UFO researcher Richard Dolan describes it:
“People in Phoenix were treated to an amazing display of hovering lights over the city. These lights appeared to be motionless and in perfect formation. They were truly an astounding sight to behold: an enormous semi-circular string of lights in the night sky.” (1)
Mass Media Attention
Despite the fact that the event had been photographed and recorded by multiple residents in Phoenix, there was no media coverage of the event until over half a year later. When the public affairs office at Luke Air Force Base announced that the lights were flares launched from an aircraft, the story became quite large and attracted a boatload of media attention, from mainstream news all the way to alternative media.
Consider for yourself – this craft (or crafts) was reported multiple times and at different time periods, and appears to have been in the sky for a prolonged period of time, starting (as mentioned above) in Nevada and then working its way over to Arizona. Again, it was seen and reported by thousands of people, and when mainstream news got ahold of it, millions of people were able to view the video footage.
How can flares stay up hovering in the sky in perfect formation for hours? What about all the reports of a very large craft? The explanation coming from the air force just doesn’t seem to make sense, does it?
“Behind the scenes, high ranking Air Force officers are soberly concerned about UFOs. But through official secrecy and ridicule, many citizens are led to believe the unknown flying objects are nonsense.” Former head of CIA, Roscoe Hillenkoetter, 1960 (source as quoted by the New York Times)
Fife Symington, the Governor of Arizona at the time, even held a press conference that featured a large and costumed alien mocking all of the UFO enthusiasts, but it seemed goodhearted in nature and, according to him, was done to lighten the mood.
What is interesting to note, however, is that Fife was keeping something to himself – he actually witnessed the event, and the former Air Force veteran spoke out years after the event (when his stint as governor ended) saying:
He also said this (below) in a CNN interview about the event:
“If you had been here 10 years ago, standing out here and looking out there at the lights, you would have been astounded, you would have been amazed. I suspect that unless the Department of Defense can prove otherwise, then it was probably some form of alien spacecraft. It was enormous and it just felt otherworldly, in your gut you could just tell it was otherworldly.” (source)
This footage, as well as the pictures, has been analyzed by a number of experts and many have come to the conclusion that there is no possible way that what people were seeing in Arizona that day were just flares, and this seems to be pretty obvious given the witness testimony coming from thousands of people. That being said, there are a few experts who have publicly stated that the explanation coming from the Air Force is probably true.
Something definitely extraordinary and inexplicable happened here. Perhaps there was a reasonable explanation but it was concealed, but there is no way to know. It’s also important to note that there was a great deal of pressure put upon the Phoenix City Council not to investigate this event.
“It even led to the ouster City Council member Francis Barwood, the one member who called for a genuine investigation.” – Richard Dolan (1)
This isn’t the first time a massive flying object has been spotted. Perhaps the most dramatic of all were two encounters by by the Chilean Air Force (one out of many examples):
“Two pilots on a training mission, each flying an F5 fighter aircraft, tracked the object on their airborne radar. It gave a return equal to ten or more aircraft carriers – except this object was in the air, not floating on the water. Each pilot assumed his radar equipment was faulty, until he learned that the other pilot was also getting the same return. Not only this, but ground radar from a nearby airport also picked up the object and confirmed its huge size. The pilots also saw the object with their own eyes. One pilot later said that at a distance of twenty miles, it looked “like a plantain banana swathed in smoke.” The pilots were frightened, having no missiles or weapons. As they approached the massive object, which had been motionless all this while, it took off at an unimaginable speed. All at once, it vanished from the three radar screens.”(1)(2)
The very next morning, the Chilean Air Force gathered some F5 fighter jets to intercept another very large UFO. The pilots described this one as very bright, and very large. The Chilean Air Force has officially acknowledged these events, but could not explain what occurred. (1)(2)

The latest release of Edward Snowden’s leaked NSA documents includes a PowerPoint from a British communications department regarding online covert operations and deception. A few of the slides inexplicably include pictures of UFOs.
The Intercept article which includes the release of the documents describes their significance:
Over the last several weeks, I worked with NBC News to publish a series of articles about “dirty trick” tactics used by GCHQ’s previously secret unit, JTRIG (Joint Threat Research Intelligence Group). These were based on fourclassifiedGCHQdocuments presented to the NSA and the other three partners in the English-speaking “Five Eyes” alliance. Today, we at the Intercept are publishing another new JTRIG document, in full, entitled “The Art of Deception: Training for Online Covert Operations.”
By publishing these stories one by one, our NBC reporting highlighted some of the key, discrete revelations: the monitoring of YouTube and Blogger, the targeting of Anonymous with the very same DDoS attacks they accuse “hacktivists” of using, the use of “honey traps” (luring people into compromising situations using sex) and destructive viruses. But, here, I want to focus and elaborate on the overarching point revealed by all of these documents: namely, that these agencies are attempting to control, infiltrate, manipulate, and warp online discourse, and in doing so, are compromising the integrity of the internet itself.
Among the core self-identified purposes of JTRIG are two tactics: (1) to inject all sorts of false material onto the internet in order to destroy the reputation of its targets; and (2) to use social sciences and other techniques to manipulate online discourse and activism to generate outcomes it considers desirable. To see how extremist these programs are, just consider the tactics they boast of using to achieve those ends: “false flag operations” (posting material to the internet and falsely attributing it to someone else), fake victim blog posts (pretending to be a victim of the individual whose reputation they want to destroy), and posting “negative information” on various forums.
The UFO pics are found on slides 35 – 37, in a section called “Influence and Information Operations.” It is difficult to decipher why they are there, except perhaps to discuss online memes, or misidentifications. The Daily Grail speculates that the images may be there for reasons “from pointing out people’s belief systems, through to them possibly being part of actual psychological operations (psy-ops).”
The pictures include a UFO photograph from Redbud, Illinois taken in 1950, a screenshot of a UFO video captured by Arturo Robles Gil in Mexico, and a picture of an alleged UFO that is suspected to simply be a bird and its droppings.
