We are at an extremely unique time in history.  

The birth of the internet has made unimaginable amounts of spiritually enlightening information just a few clicks away.  As soon as someone is ready to wake up, everything is right there and accessible through a cursory google search.  Some of the most profound books containing extremely powerful, ancient knowledge that have the power to transform consciousness can be bought on Amazon for around $5.  From Neale Donald Walsch, to Wayne Dyer, to Alan Cohen, to Don Miguel Ruiz, to Maharshi, to Yogananda, to Marianne Williamson, to Cosmic Awareness and so on — we have an unprecedented level of access to great spiritual teachers and knowledge.  As someone intimately involved in the awakening process of humanity, it is obvious to me that we are in the midst of a powerful spiritual renaissance.

Beyond simple access to information and teachers, there is also a corresponding metaphysical and energetic shift occurring both on the planet and in the larger context of the energies influencing our galaxy.  This time was foreshadowed by the Mayan’s and their infamous calendar for thousands of years.  Not merely conjecture, this highly advanced, cyclical calendar was based on many factors, but primarily astronomical transits.  With great accuracy, the Mayan’s were able to predict the exact spiritual renaissance we now find ourselves in.  Despite the many wild misinterpretations of the supposed “end date” of Dec. 21st, 2012, those who truly studied the calendar and understood its cyclical nature were able to identify the true significance of that date — the ending of one age and the beginning of another.  We are emerging from a rather ‘dark’ age in the consciousness of humanity and transitioning into a spiritual renaissance that is currently unfolding at an astounding pace.

Those looking for veritable proof in external, physical reality are totally missing the point.  Although this shift will eventually manifest in the physical realm, one must always remember that the physical realm is an extension/manifestation of internal state.  Therefore as the masses begin to collectively make the internal shift, we will begin to see it externalized in the world around us.  The signs are already there for those ‘who can truly see’, however, one would be well advised to look within for the change.  Sit, quiet the mind, meditate, relax, breath and pay intention to those feelings arising from within, for that is where all true change begins.

Entering a Spiritual Renaissance

In the three decades leading up to the prophetic dates of 2012, and at the end of a 5,125 year Mayan cycle of time, we have entered a very unique time on Earth that is filled with great potential. We are about at the end of a long, exciting but exhausting 33 year journey that has taken us through the dark rift in the Milky Way. 33 is a powerful master number and also the center frequency of the Maya Tzolk’in. The Maya know this rift to be a place of great transformation, and we will be completely through this dark rift by 2016. (from 1983-2016) When we look back, we can see that we are no longer the same person that we were when we began this adventure together.


The beginning of this sacred 33 year passage was triggered by the Harmonic Convergence in 1986 that also triggered a global Spiritual Renaissance in which we re-birthed, re-modeled, re-hashed, re-claimed, re-mapped, re-booted and re-membered. We just about re-did everything and, in doing so, we looked deep into our hearts with the precision of an electron microscope. But that period is over. It is fading into a dim memory. Our work is done there, and what we have done cannot be repeated. We have made the leap.

Now, 30 years later, we are beginning to exit the dark rift in the Milky Way. This is triggering yet another Spiritual Renaissance. We will feel the first hints of this renaissance on Equinox (March 19-22) by feeling a profound lifting of spirit and an transformed inner light that has returned after a long 3 month cocoon stage. The Star Elders share that by Solstice (June 21-23, 2013) it will be obvious that we have entered a new frequency, dimension, bandwidth, reality and perspective. It will be time to put into action your new and divine creative skills to work.

The intense uncertainty and anticipation that was building for the prophetic dates of December 21, 2012 has passed, and we have entered into a new beginning that is a merging of our physical body with our spirit with the divine plan. The world did not end in horrific cataclysms; nor was there an ecstatic rapture into paradise. A fleet of UFOs didn’t come to save us either. But we knew it would turn out this way. The sensitive ones of this world are now breathing a deep sigh of relief as the energy bubble, overflowing with crushing ambiguity and expectation has burst, and a more balanced, peaceful and harmonious energy is emerging into the new Earth.

Up until now, for most of the conscious community, the universe felt like it had hit the pause button. We felt like a ships without rudders. Even what we held true was flip flopping on a daily basis, and we felt an enormous apathy to all things in our material lives. We felt like we were in an odd place of suspended animation floating in a void of immaculate space. We have entered the creative womb of divine potential. We have entered an incubation phase of a new and exciting cycle. We are dreaming a new world while maintaining a body in the physical world. We are living and dreaming all at the same time. It is an oddly fascinating place to witness . . . like watching the birth of a star.

All new cycles, like the one we just entered, begin slowly with lots of surreal, dreamlike space in which to make very creative imaginings and visualizations that will soon become the foundation stones for this entire new cycle. At first our world might feel it lacks luster. Many people are sharing with me that they are missing the buzz of 2012, and the world now feels a bit mundane. We are literally being asked to go “cold turkey” on breaking our addiction to really high pitched energies from the past cycle that we had become accustomed to. This is an adjustment as we let go of the drama and ego and frantic pace that we were accustomed to. Others are making huge adjustments in their lives to self-correct and come into alignment with this new cycle and field of possibility. This takes raw and instinctual courage as we enter a multi-dimensional world.

While in this suspended animation, we are becoming comfortable with the void and the unknown. Even though there is some oddly unproductive searching going on (this is a temporary state by the way), we also feel safe and secure regarding the eminent outcome of our incubation. We are collecting new tools for the future. This is a safe place for us while the Earth, our physical form and our DNA recalibrates to the new frequencies. We are gathering information that we will need for the new birth . . . And we can feel it coming.

So now what? It is time to get really friendly with the unknown that is out in front of us now. The world is going to change, and so are we. There are going to be some surprising changes in the directions in our physical and spiritual lives. We will be mystified and sometimes overwhelmed by all the myriad of choices. We are struggling to get clear about what is next for our lives, but our usual guidance is now coming from multiple directions at once. I like to call this “the octopus effect” as we begin to learn to manifest spherically while being in a neutral and detached ego. This is a confusing time as all of our guidance feels to be true. We are learning to be multi-dimensional beings and think and live in multiple realities. This wrestling for clear guidance is going to stretch us and help us discover new frontiers of reality.

We have entered a new beginning that has blasted us into a higher frequency. It is an explosion of spirit and evolution. Any negative, ego driven program must and will go extinct. The past is quickly becoming a dinosaur. With patience, we will learn to understand and integrate the new higher frequencies that we are now learning to navigate. We may flip flop between the many choices out in front of us until we can hold and maintain a multi-dimensional perspective. We have the task of unpacking all that transpired during the powerful time in 2012.

We have now graduated into multi-dimensional grownups. We have grown past expecting to be saved or rescued. We are re-claiming our God given, divine potential, physically and spiritually. We are fearlessly facing the work ahead of us. We embrace being responsible human beings and accept the uncertainty and change in the enviable matrix of possibility ahead. We will use this matrix as a vehicle for our growth and awakening. We are letting go of our rigid belief systems, because we have learned that adversity and challenge comes only when we go against the flow.

We are blessed to be in a period of a great Spiritual Renaissance . . . a phase of orientation and discovery. The orientation point that was anchored in each of us in 2012 is now being slowly switched on. Remember, we just came from a fever pitched ending of a huge cycle, into calm immaculate space. Be patient with yourself now, as new cycles always begin slowly. There is no need to rush. There is lots of time to fulfill your destiny and divine purpose. We have time to act deliberately. We can take our time about everything in our lives. We can slow down and breathe the unqualified air in this new reality. We can make each decision and choice from great intent and deep contemplation. We are going to create a new and harmonic world. So no worries for now, if you feel a bit stuck. The mission was not aborted, and we didn’t miss the boat; we are on board and sailing with the spirit of a new born earth star. But as you see . . . it is going to take some getting used to. Let us breathe and see where it takes us.

The Lightworker’s Identity

Lightworkers are souls who carry the strong inner desire to spread Light – knowledge, freedom and self-love – on earth. They sense this as their mission. They are often attracted to spirituality and to therapeutic work of some kind.

Because of their deeply felt mission, lightworkers often feel different from other people. By experiencing different kinds of obstacles on their way, life provokes them to find their own unique path. Lightworkers are nearly always solitary individuals, not fitting into fixed societal structures.

A note on the notion of “lightworker”

 

The word “lightworker” may evoke misunderstanding, since it lifts out a particular group of souls from the rest. It may be taken to suggest that this particular group is somehow superior to the others, i.e. those “not working for the light.” This whole line of thought is at odds with the very nature and intent of lightwork. Let us state briefly what is wrong with it.

First, claims of superiority are generally unenlightened. They block your growth toward a free and loving consciousness. Second, lightworkers are not “better” or “higher” than anyone else. They simply have a different history than the ones not belonging to this group. Because of this particular history, which we will discuss below, they have certain psychological characteristics which distinguish them as a group. Third, every soul becomes a lightworker at some stage of its unfolding, so the label “lightworker” is not reserved to a limited number of souls.

The reason we use the word “lightworker” despite possible misunderstandings is because it carries associations and stirs memories within you that help you remember. There is a practical convenience to it as well, since the term is frequently used in your current spiritual literature.

Historical roots of lightworkers

 

Lightworkers carry within them the ability to attain spiritual awakening faster than other people. They carry inner seeds for a rapid spiritual awakening. With regard to this, they seem to be on a faster track than most people, if they choose it. This again is not because lightworkers are in any way “better” or “higher” souls. They are, however, older than most souls presently incarnate on earth. This older age should preferably be understood in terms of experience rather than time.





Lightworkers have reached a particular stage of enlightenment before they incarnate on earth and start their mission. They consciously choose to become entrenched in the “karmic wheel of life” and to experience all forms of confusion and illusion that go with it.

They do this in order to fully understand “earth experience.” This will enable them to fulfill their mission. Only by going through all stages of ignorance and illusion themselves will they eventually own the tools to help others achieve a state of true happiness and enlightenment.

Why do lightworkers pursue this heartfelt mission to help humanity, thereby running the risk of losing themselves for ages in the heaviness and confusion of earth life? This is a question we will deal with extensively below. For now we will say that it has to do with a galactic type of karma.

Lightworkers stood on the eve of humanity’s birth on earth. They took part in the creation of man. They were co-creators of humanity. In the process of creation, they made choices and acted in ways which they came to regret deeply afterwards. They are here now to make up for their decisions back then.

Before we go into this particular history, we will name a few characteristics of lightworker souls which generally distinguish them from other people. These psychological traits do not uniquely belong to lightworkers and not all lightworkers will recognize all of them as theirs. By drawing up this list, we simply want to give an outline of the lightworker’s psychological identity. With regard to the characteristics, outer behavior is of less importance than inner motivation or felt intent. What you feel inside is more important than what you show outside.

Psychological characteristics of lightworkers:

-	From early on in their life, they feel they are different. More often than not they feel isolated from others, lonely and misunderstood. They will often become individualists who will have to find their own unique ways in life.
-	They have trouble feeling at home within traditional jobs and/or organization structures. Lightworkers are naturally anti-authoritarian which means that they naturally resist decisions or values based solely on power or hierarchy. This anti-authoritarian trait is present even if they seem timid and shy. It is connected to the very essence of their mission here on earth.
-	Lightworkers feel drawn to helping people as a therapist or as a teacher. They may be psychologists, healers, teachers, nurses, etc. Even if their profession is not about helping people in a direct manner, the intent to contribute to the higher good of humanity is clearly present.
-	Their vision of life is colored by a spiritual sense of how all things are related together. They consciously or subconsciously carry memories within them of non-earthly spheres of light. They may occasionally feel homesick for these spheres and feel like a stranger on earth.
-	They deeply honor and respect life which often manifests as a fondness for animals and a concern for the environment. The destruction of parts of the animal and vegetable kingdoms on earth by human doing invokes deep feelings of loss and grief in them.
-	They are kind-hearted, sensitive and empathic. They may have trouble dealing with aggressive behavior and they generally experience difficulties in standing up for themselves. They can be dreamy, naive or highly idealistic, as well as insufficiently grounded, i.e. down-to-earth. Because they easily pick up negative feelings and moods of people around them, it is important for them to spend time alone on a regular basis. This enables them to distinguish between their own feelings and those of others. They need solitary time to touch base with themselves and with mother earth.
-	They have lived many lives on earth in which they were deeply involved with spirituality and/or religion. They were present in overwhelming numbers in the old religious orders of your past as monks, nuns, hermits, psychics, witches, shamans, priests, priestesses, etc. They were the ones providing a bridge between the visible and the invisible, between the daily context of earth life and the mysterious realms of the afterlife, realms of God and the spirits of good and evil. For fulfilling this role, they were often rejected and persecuted. Many of you were sentenced to the stake for the gifts you possessed. The traumas of persecution left deep traces within your soul’s memory. This may presently manifest as a fear of being fully grounded, i.e. a fear to be really present, because you remember being brutally attacked for who you were.

Getting lost: the lightworker’s pitfall

 

Lightworkers can be caught up in the same states of ignorance and illusion as anyone else. Although they start from a different point of departure, their capacity to break through fear and illusion in order to attain enlightenment may be blocked by many factors. (By enlightenment, we mean the state of being in which you realize that you are essentially of the Light, capable of choosing light at any time.)

One of the factors blocking the road to enlightenment for lightworkers is the fact that they carry a heavy karmic burden which may lead them astray for quite some time. As we stated before, this karmic burden is related to decisions they once made with regard to humanity in its infant stages. These decisions were essentially disrespectful of life (we will speak of this later in this chapter). All lightworkers now living wish to set right some of their past mistakes and to restore and cherish what was destroyed because of those mistakes.

When lightworkers have made their way through the karmic burden, which means to release the need for power in any way, they will realize that they are essentially beings of light. This will enable them to help others in finding their own true selves. But first they have to go through that process themselves. This generally demands great determination and perseverance on the inner level. Because society feeds them values and judgments which often go against their own natural impulses, many lightworkers have gotten lost, ending up in states of self-doubt, self-denial and even depression and hopelessness. This is because they cannot fit into the established order of things and they conclude there must be something terribly wrong with them.

What lightworkers have to do at this point is to stop looking for validation from the outside – from parents, friends or society. At some point in time, you who are reading this will have to take the momentous leap to true empowerment, which means to really believe in yourself and to truly honor and act upon your natural inclinations and your inner knowing.
